The Ontario Late Model race cars will make their first appearance at Jukasa for a 50-lap feature on Saturday night. For that race, Hathaway will field the #3 Kubota Chevrolet .

“I’m looking forward to getting into the Late Model this weekend. The equipment that Mike McColl brings to the track is top notch and I’m excited about getting into one of his cars. Jukasa is a fun track and we have had some success there, so running the Kubota colours on a late model on Saturday will be awesome.” Said Hathaway.

The NASCAR Pinty’s Series will also crown it’s 2018 Champion and E.H.R. team driver Cole Powell is currently sitting 3rd in points heading into the weekend.

POLE WIN, TOP 5 FINISH FOR POWELL AT NHMS

Loudon, New Hampshire – September 22, 2018 – The NASCAR Pinty’s Series made its historic first trip outside of Canada for a 100 lap event at “The Magic Mile”, New Hampshire Motor Speedway. The Team had never been to NHMS but Powell had the advantage of some familiarity with the track, having visited four times as part of the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour.

Powell practiced well in the #3 Kubota/Copp’s Chevrolet, with his times among the top 5, but really showed some speed when it came to qualifying where he set the fast time and won his first career pole in NASCAR Pinty’s Series competition.

Powell led for 10 laps before being overtaken by the No. 74. He reported the car feeling loose throughout the race. Powell made a pit stop midway through the event for fuel and an adjustment. After falling a bit off the pace and dropping back to P8, Powell battled the No. 3 back up to P4 to finish the race. He ran out of laps before having a chance to challenge for the lead.

“The car was real loose all race, but our EHR team brought me a great car once again. It was amazing to win our first pole in NPS! I want to thank Copp’s Buildall and Kubota for their support, and I hope they are proud of the strong season we are having,” commented Powell.

Cole Powell is currently 3rd in the Championship points battle, sitting 19 points back from the leader. The Team is now preparing for the Pinty’s Series season finale, the Pinty’s Fall Brawl at Jukasa Motor Speedway, September 29th.

Podium Finish for Powell at St. Eustache

St. Eustache, Quebec- September 9, 2018- Although they had to battle for position from the back of the field, getting back to the ovals for the Ed Hakonson Racing team and driver Cole Powell in their #3 Kubota/Copp’s Chevrolet resulted in a great finish for the Team.

Powell practiced well on Saturday afternoon, P3, but had a rough qualifying effort, landing him in the 13th starting spot.

On a track where track position is everything, Powell had to get to work early to try to make passes in the Lucas Oil 250 event, on Saturday night, in front of packed house trackside.

By lap 85, Powell was P7 with only 12 cars on lead lap.

On the 2nd NASCAR sanctioned pit road break, Powell came down pit road for tires and fuel to take him the rest of the way in the 250-lap event.

Powell made good use of a number of restarts starting on the inside line after the half way point and as the laps wound down in the race, Powell was sitting in the top 5.

A late race caution came on lap 246, collecting some top running cars and the race went into overtime. The race finished under a green, white, checkered finish and Powell was able to muscle his way to a 3rd place finish.

“This was a great finish for us tonight. This is a tough little bull ring and the car might have a few less fiberglass panels on it, but I’m happy we were able to bring our Kubota/Copp’s Chevrolet home on the podium.” Said Powell after climbing from his race machine.

The Lucas Oil 250 will air on TSN on Saturday, September 15 at 3:30 pm and on RDS on Tuesday October 2, 2018 at 10:30 pm.

Powell is currently 3rd in the Championship points battle as the Team gets a week off before the Series will make its first visit to the US for The Visit New Hampshire 100 at New

Hampshire Speedway September 21 & 22, 2018.

Flat Tire Ends Hathaway’s Night at Jukasa

Hagersville, Ontario- September 3, 2018- Hathaway, as defending winner of the Inaugural Short Track Nationals at Jukasa Motor Speedway in 2017, was looking forward to a great repeat finish at the 2018 event this past weekend. After being fast all day, a flat tire ended Hathaway’s chances of a top place finish on Sunday night.

The #3 Kubota Chevrolet was fast right off the trailer. The team tuned on the car during the rain shortened practice in the early afternoon and Hathaway was pretty comfortable in the car.

The 42-car field was packed will some of the best late model short track talent that Canada and the US had to offer. With a $50,000 first place finish payout the Team came with their A-game and was well prepared.

Hathaway qualified 5th in the field.

The pace was quick right off the drop of the green flag and by lap 31 Hathaway was up in the top 3 in the running order. Hathaway logged laps in the 200-lap event as the top 5 cars broke off into a pack of their own.

When the mandatory break came on lap 97, Hathaway’s car had tightened up and he had slipped back to 5th. Crew Chief, Craig Masters bought Hathaway down pit road and serviced the car with fuel, tires and adjustments for the 2nd half of the race.

Hathaway got a great restart when the green flew after the break and pulled into 4th. Once again, the top 5 cars broke away from the field.

On lap 124 Hathaway earned 3rd and was poised for a great 75 lap run to the checkered flag when his race machine blew a right front tire on the fastest part of the race track sending him hard into the outside wall, ending his night.

Hathaway was checked out by the Track medical staff and released.

“That was a big hit tonight.” Said Hathaway “It’s too bad really, we were having a good race, running in the top 5 all day long. We have been surrounded by some of the best talent in late model circles today, which was really cool. The track put on a great event. ”
