HATHAWAY’S STRONG RUN CUT SHORT AT MONTMAGNY

(September 25, 2024) Jason Hathaway, driver of the #3 ASSA ABLOY Chevrolet, saw his final race of the 2024 NASCAR Canada Series season at Autodrome Montmagny come to an early and frustrating end. Competing at the 3/8-mile oval for the first time, Hathaway and the E.H.R. team battled through early challenges to show speed and promise before an unfortunate turn of events forced them out of contention.

The weekend started with some difficulties for the #3 team, as a carburetor issue during first practice limited their ability to gather data. However, improvements were evident by the final practice session, and Hathaway managed to qualify in 12th position.

Once the green flag dropped on the 250-lap feature event, Hathaway worked his way into the top ten and felt increasingly confident with the car’s handling. After the scheduled mid-race break for fuel and tires, the E.H.R. crew made a few handling adjustments that paid off. Hathaway surged through the field, moving up to third place and looking poised for a strong finish.

Unfortunately, a fluke electrical issue surfaced, forcing Hathaway to make an unscheduled pit stop. While the team quickly resolved the problem, Hathaway was shuffled back in the pack, where racing incidents are more frequent. His bad luck continued when contact with another competitor caused significant damage to the #3 Chevrolet, ultimately forcing Hathaway to retire from the race before the checkered flag.

Hathaway and the #3 ASSA ABLOY Chevrolet team wrap up the 2024 season with several strong performances that included back-to-back podium finishes at Riverside International Speedway. Hathaway finishes the season sixth in the overall championship standings.

Quote: “It’s a tough way to end the season, especially after we had such a strong car and were making a charge forward. We showed we had the speed to be on the podium. Super proud of the whole E.H.R. team, our great crew at the shop and all those that work trackside for all the hard work this season. And a huge thanks to our partners ASSA ABLOY, Weiser, Leland, HGC and everyone who makes this possible. This just makes us hungrier for even more next season” -Jason Hathaway, driver #3 ASSA ABLOY Chevrolet
