Top 10 Finish For Hathaway At Delaware Speedway

June 12, 2011-Delaware, Ontario- Jason Hathaway, in this #3 Snap on Tools/Vortex Brakes Pads/Rockstar Energy Drink Dodge had a great race and another opportunity to podium, but had it slip from his hands in a late race altercation Saturday night.

Returning to his home track, Hathaway and his team were excited about returning to Delaware Speedway.  Practice went well for the team posting a 6th

place on the speed charts. Hathaway went on to record a great qualifying effort landing a 5th place starting spot in a field of 20 competitors.

“Our car is in really great shape and comfortable. It has been the most comfortable I have been in while here and we are really looking forward to running tonight.” Hathaway said during the fan popular trackside autograph session.

The name of the game in the 200 lap Keystone Light 200 was to run constant lap times and to save his car for the end of the race to pull the trigger on a podium finish.  The car ran great and Crew Chief Craig Masters brought the car in for fuel just after the half way point and again for right side tries on lap 153.  That set Hathaway up for a great run to the end of the race from the 4th spot.  Hathaway kept the pressure on the 3rd place car lap after lap and exchanged the spot with him a few times before settling into 3rd. With only 6 laps to go an aggressive push from the car behind him sent Hathaway high up and out of the racing groove in corner 3 and 4. Hathaway did a great job saving the car from hitting the wall hard, but had to relinquish his top 3 running position trying to get his car straight.   Hathaway and his racing machine fell back to 8th, where he would finish the race.

A disappointed Hathaway reflected after the race.  “Our car was great all night and we were looking to race to a place on the podium this weekend.  The guy behind hit me hard and we almost wrote the car off trying to keep it off the corner 4 wall.  It’s a shame because we were so close and we really wanted to bring home a win for our sponsors, our team and the Hakonson family.”

The next event for the team will be in 2 weeks time, June 26, for the Vortex Brake Pads 200 at the road course at Mosport International Raceway.   This weekend’s race, the Keystone Light 200 from Delaware Speedway will air on TSN on June 26 at 1 pm.

Hathaway Perseveres In Dickies 200 Presented By Vortex Brake Pads

Team 3 @ Mosport
Team 3 @ Mosport

May 29, 2011 – Bowmanville, Ontario – Amidst troubles with his #3 Snap-on Tools/Rockstar Energy Drink/Vortex Brake Pads Dodge, NCTS driver Jason Hathaway persevered to bring home a hard fought 6th place finish in the Dickies 200 presented by Vortex Brake Pads at Mosport Speedway on Saturday night.

The first event of the season got underway yesterday for the Ed Hakonson Racing/Team 3 Red race team with the season opened at Mosport International Raceway. During practice the team adjusted on a loose handling race car and made final preparations for the 200 lap race. Hathaway posted his best ever Mosport qualifying effort during his 2 lap qualifying session with a 6th place starting spot.

Trouble started early in the 200 lap main event for Hathaway when he reported a miss in the engine to the team’s Crew Chief Craig Masters. A long green flag run did not allow Hathaway to bring his race machine to the attention of his crew until lap 113 after being under powered and going 2 laps down to the leaders, including team mate Don Thomson Jr.

After falling back to 13th place with an ailing race car, Hathaway was given a boost by his pit crew with a quick pit stop for right side tries and fuel. Fresh rubber helped Hathaway and he made his way up to the 11th running position.

With only 20 laps to go Hathaway was the recipient of the Lucky Dog Award and earned his way back onto the lead lap. Hathaway made his way through traffic up into the top 10 and into 7th place. A green white, checkered finish gave Hathaway one last chance at gaining more track position and he did just that, avoiding a last lap tangle coming home in 6th place.

Hathaway was excited by their finish to what started out as a tough race. “I am really happy with our finish today.” Said Hathaway. “The guys did awesome in the pits and Craig made some great calls on the car set up and adjustments. Our team mate Don Thomson Jr is on the podium tonight in 3rd place so this is a great way to open the season.”

“I’m really impressed with the way Jason dug deep and rallied with the engine problems he had tonight. To come all the way back up to the front when he was deep in the running order with only 20 laps to go was awesome.” Said Team owner Ed Hakonson

The next race for the #3 Snap-on Tools/Rockstar Energy Drink/Vortex Brake Pads Dodge will be their inaugural appearance at the Circuit ICAR located in Mirabel, Quebec, north of Montreal, Sunday June 5. The teams will take to the 3.4 kilometre road course on Friday afternoon for testing, Saturday for qualifying and main event on Sunday afternoon. The Dickies 200 with be broadcast on TSN on June 4 at 1 pm.

SUCCESSFUL SEASON FOR EHR/T3R & HATHAWAY ENDS WITH 7TH PLACE FINISH AT KAWARTHA

September 26, 2010, Fraserville, Ontario- Jason Hathaway, EHR/T3R and the #3 Snap-on Tools/Rockstar Energy Drink Dodge ran their final race late yesterday afternoon at Kawartha Speedway as their 13 race 2010 NASCAR Canadian Tire Series finished up.  This season was successful for the Team achieving their goals and recording a team high top 5 finishes.

As it has been most of the season at each and every track, the Teams’ practice on Saturday went well and the car showed some great speed and handling abilities.  A rain soaked qualifying effort hampered Hathaway’s qualifying run, posting a 12th place starting spot.  As was the story all season long in qualifying efforts, lap times were incredibly close.

The start of the final race of the 2010 season was postpones for about 2 hours while rain activity passed in and out of the area on Saturday afternoon. During the rain delay Hathaway talked about his car.  “We have another good car here this weekend.  Tyler and the guys worked hard this week in the shop and they have given me a car that I think can go to the front.   This track is pretty fast and fun to drive and our Vortex Brake Pad “Brake Cam” camera for the TSN television broadcast will give us some pretty cool shots.”

With rain looming all day and into the evening the race finally got underway at 6:30 pm.  The game plan from Crew Chief Tyler Case from the top of the pit box was to help get Jason all he needed to get to the front while watching the weather to adjust the Teams strategy. Hathaway started on the plan right front the drop of the green flag moving into 11th on lap 1 and by lap 30 was 8th in the running order.

After contact with another driver racing for 7th position, Hathaway felt he had a tire going down on his racing machine.  He brought his car down onto pit road on the next caution for right side tires.  He went out at the end of the lead lap in 18th and worked his way back up through the back avoiding some back of the pack wrecks.  Hathaway showed some great driving when avoiding the wrecks earning a top 3 running position on lap 136 of the 250 lap race.  As the laps clicked down to the end Hathaway’s early taken right side tires wore and he lost traction.  Hathaway held onto his car and finished a well deserved 7th place.

“This has been a great season for our Team and I am proud to be a part of it.  We had a great car tonight, but having to take right side tires so early in the race hurt our challenge abilities as the race got closer to the end.  We moved up in the point’s championship finish this season and our team is really making a mark in this series.  Other Teams have really taken notice of our progress and it feels good to represent all of our sponsors. I want to thank Snap-on Tools, Rockstar Energy Drink and Vortex Brake Pads for their awesome support this season. Napoleon Grills continued their marketing program with us this season as well and we are proud to have as long time supporters.  DSC Security Products joined us in 2010 and they have been a great and excited group to work with. Thanks to Bryan Cathcart for his help in getting our Team transporter across the country.  I really want to thank our crew and their families for all their hard work and for allowing them to help us each and every week.  I have to finally thank our Team owner Ed Hakonson who gives us great equipment and the backing we need to set and achieve our goals together.  This was a successful season for all of us.”

The # Snap-on Tools/Rockstar Energy Drink Dodge Team posted 11 top 10 and 3 top 5 finishes this season and finished 6th in the 2010 Championship points battle.

PODIUM SLIPS AWAY FROM SNAP-ON TOOLS/ROCKSTAR ENERGY DRINK DODGE AT RIVERSIDE

September 19, 2010, Antigonish, Nova Scotia- Jason Hathaway, EHR/T3R and the #3 Snap-on Tools/Rockstar Energy Drink Dodge once again showed that they are a team to be reckoned with this past weekend on the 1/3 high banked oval of Riverside Speedway, outside of Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Practice went well for the team on Saturday afternoon posting a 3rd place fastest car on the speed charts.  Qualifying later that afternoon placed Hathaway 9th in the starting order for the 300 lap quick paced race.

Hathaway was happy with his car before the start of the race. “This is a pretty quick track and we are looking forward to a good run this afternoon. The car is fast and handling really well.”

It didn’t take long for Hathaway to show what the car was capable of when the race got underway.  Just before the 100 lap mark, the #3 Snap-on Tools/Rockstar Energy Drink Dodge was lined up in the 6th spot. The crew brought his racing machine in for fuel and tires on lap 82.  The crew did a great job and sent Hathaway back out on the track in the 7th spot.

New tires and a great handing race car saw Hathaway through long green flag runs. On lap 246 Hathaway’s great driving and patience all came together when he pulled into the third spot in the running order.  The top 3 placed drivers pulled away as a group and set their own pace.  Hathaway vied for 2nd place for 14 laps before settling into 3rd .  With only 10 laps to go Hathaway started to slip back in the running order, finishing 5th.

“Our car was once again pretty awesome. The crew did a great job in the pits today and we thought we had a car for the podium again this weekend.  It was great to run with Steckley and Thompson, but that podium finish slipped away from us.  We have been running up front and we hope to finish the season off next week up there as well.” Said a happy Hathaway after the race.

The Team will finish up the 2010 NASCAR Canadian Tire Series schedule this weekend September 25th when they take their # 3 Snap-on Tools/Rockstar Energy Drink Dodge to the .375 mile track of Kawartha Speedway near Bowmanville, Ontario.

PODIUM FINISH FOR HATHAWAY AT BARRIE WRECKED BY LAP CAR

September 12, 2010, Barrie, Ontario- Jason Hathaway, EHR/T3R and the #3 Snap-on Tools/Rockstar Energy Drink Dodge  had an excellent podium placing race Saturday night, at the Wild Wing 300, cut short by an accident involving a lap car that Hathaway was attempting to pass.

The Team initially struggled to show speed on the practice charts early on Saturday afternoon, but continued to tune on their set up.  The focus was to the get the car comfortable for Hathaway for long green flag runs during the gruelling 300 lap event around the tight and exciting 1/4 mile track.  Hathaway qualified a tough 13th in the starting order.

“Our starting spot really doesn’t show what we think we have in this car tonight.  This is a long race and we need to be smart and get this car up to the front.” Said Hathaway before climbing into his race machine to start the event.

Starting 13thth, the primary objective was to stay clean and get the car headed to the front, hopefully stay out of trouble.  Hathaway had an excellent start and by lap 36 was in the 10th spot.  A long green flag run just before the half way point of the race really showed what the Team had in their Snap-on on Tools/Rockstar Energy Drink Dodge, taking the inside line under his competitors moving up numerous positions.  By lap 177 Hathaway was just inside the top 3, running in the 2nd spot with some great momentum.  He challenged for the lead for 17 laps, but eventually settled into the 3rd place, getting himself into a comfortable rhythm.

Disaster for the Team hit on lap 264, while running 3rd, Hathaway was spun by an overzealous lapped car in corner 2.  He was passed by the leader, going a lap down, trying to get the car fired and straightened out as the caution flag came out. He re-started 13th.  The Team called Hathaway into the pits for tires with 25 laps to go, in hopes of catching a break and working their way back onto the lead lap and putting the heat on the leaders once again.  Unfortunately, the caution flew once again not giving Hathaway enough laps to make up the distance; Hathaway was relegated to the 10th finishing position.

A frustrated driver commented after the race. “Our car was great tonight. I am really disappointed that the lap car I was trying to clear wouldn’t give me the room to run. This track requires a lot of give and take and the accident really wrecked our finish night.  The crew worked hard this weekend and I hate that we weren’t able to put this car on the podium, where it belonged, for them and our great sponsors.”

The Team will take their # 3 Snap-on Tools/Rockstar Energy Drink Dodge to the high banked 1/3 oval at Riverside Speedway near Antigonish, Nova Scotia, this coming weekend.  The event will be the 12th stop on the 13 race NASCAR R Canadian Tire Series schedule, September 18, 2010.

EHR/T3R is proud to be partnered with Snap-on Tools, Rockstar Energy Drink, Vortex Brake Pads, DSC Security Products, Napoleon Grills, Farmers Feed Families line of clothing, Castrol, Cathcart Trucking, Fast Eddie Racewear, Choko Authentic  Apparel , Impact Canopies and Praxair.  For more information on EHR/T3R check out the site at www.team3red.com
