STOUFFVILLE, ON- June 12, 2014- As the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series prepares for its debut at Vallee-Jonction, Quebec’s Autodrome Chaudiere, teams across Canada are formulating their best strategy on how to attack the unfamiliar quarter-mile.
For short track ace, Jason Hathaway, not knowing is part of the experience. “I’m excited to be going to [Autodrome] Chaudiere”, explained the personable veteran. “There are few things better in this sport than the feeling of walking into a speedway you’ve never seen before.”
“Every team in that pit area is going to have to be on their A-Game”, Hathaway continued, “because our practice sessions are almost going to be a race within a race, with everyone trying to figure out the quick way around before the team in the next pit stall does”
A former Late Model standout, Hathaway is no stranger to arriving in unfamiliar territory with little experience or notes to act as a guide. “When you’re racing the weekly Late Model circuit, you have the chance to visit virtually every speedway in your region”, said Hathaway, “it puts a lot of focus on the relationship between driver and crew. Because, you’re going to need them to help you find the setup that will give you a fighting chance on race day.”
“I have some of the best guys in the sport”, continued Hathaway, “and they know I’m going to be leaning on them as much as ever before on June 14th. This is a new puzzle, and I can’t wait to figure it out.”
All 3 of Hathaway’s NASCAR Canadian Tire Series victories have come on ovals, with an additional 16 top-5s in his 88-race career.
“Oval racing is definitely where I feel most comfortable”, said Hathaway, “I think we’ll have an excellent program ready for Chaudiere, and I can’t wait to scratch another short track off my bucket list.”

BOWMANVILLE, ON-May 19, 2014- After time trialing 4th quickest in a talent-laden 28 car field, Jason Hathaway appeared to have a car capable of contending for victory at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park’s Pinty’s presents the Clarington 200. Unfortunately, Hathaway’s Rockstar Energy Drink/Roto-Static No. 3 experienced engine troubles on lap-36, relegating the veteran to a 24th place finish.

“These are the days in which it helps to have a short memory in this sport”, offered a visibly disappointed Hathaway post-race. “I can’t say enough about this car, my team and my sponsors, though. We had a car capable of winning this race this afternoon. I think we showed that in practice, and we certainly showed that on the race track.”

Hathaway was running 4th ,knocking out great lap times, when the caution flew and the first round of pit stops took place.  When the crew went to work on their tire change an incident happened and Crew Chief Craig Masters had to bring Hathaway back down pit road to fix the part and re-join the field in the 23rd position.

“I didn’t panic at all, I knew we had a good car and could just pick our way back through the field”, said the Team 3 Red pilot of the second trip down pit road.

When the field got back to green flag racing, Hathaway made quick work of passing cars and made his way to 15th place in only a few laps, feeling comfortable with his race machine.

“This car got better as the day went on”, said Hathaway. “My team is one of the best in the business, and they gave me a fantastic piece this afternoon.”

At lap-36, Hathaway had stormed to the 6th position when, without warning, mechanical gremlins ended the team’s race early.

“No amount of strategy can protect you against a blown engine”, offered Hathaway. “We were coming at the end.  I hate for our team that the day ended early, but those 36-laps gave us a lot to be proud of”, said Hathaway. “Thanks to Roto-Static for coming on board this weekend and we will be ready for Chaudiere!”

Jason Hathaway will return to action with the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series at Autodrome Chaudiere in Vallee-Jonction, Quebec on June 14th for the Budweiser 300.

STOUFFVILLE, ON- April 29, 2014- With the 2014 NASCAR Canadian Tire Series season rapidly approaching, work at the Ed Hakonson Racing shop has reached a fevered pitch. With opening night just around the corner, the veteran team – led by driver Jason Hathaway – is ecstatic to announce that Rockstar Energy Drink will return for the 2014 campaign.
Hathaway has good reason to be excited. His 2013 effort was a career best, with 2 wins and 7 top-5s, carrying the team to a 3rd place finish in the NASCAR Championship point standings.
“Our team really hit its stride late last season”, explains Hathaway. “We won 2 of the final 4 races of the season and were really coming together as a team. I can’t wait to get back to the track and keep our momentum rolling”.

Not one to rest on his laurels, Hathaway is quick to outline his plans for the upcoming season.
“Last season reaffirmed what we’ve known all along, that we’re a championship caliber team. We can’t wait to put this Rockstar Energy Drink Chevrolet in victory lane.   February 7, 2014- Stouffville, Ontario- Coming off of a very successful 2013 season, Jason Hathaway and his Ed Hakonson Racing Team are looking forward to greeting the New Year with a brand new look.  After 11 years of running the Dodge & MOPAR brands, Ed Hakonson Racing will move to the all-new 2014 Chevrolet Impala body for the upcoming NASCAR Canadian Tire Series season.  The Team’s #3 Snap-on Tools/Rockstar Energy Drink Chevrolet will be on unveiled at the Canadian Motorsport Expo this weekend February 7^th, 8^th , 9^th  at the International Centre in Toronto.

     Team owner Ed Hakonson is excited about the look and opportunity that comes with running the new body style.  “We have been treated very well by Dodge & MOPAR family over the last 11 years, but our Team felt that it was time to make a change and support one of the other great North American manufacturers in the Series. We think this will offer General Motors and Chevrolet a great spring board to leverage motorsports in the Canadian marketplace.”

     Hathaway joined Ed Hakonson Racing in 2006, winning the CASCAR Rookie of the Year. In The NASCAR Canadian Tire Series inaugural season in 2007, Hathaway posted 1 top 5 finish and 7 top 10 finishes. The Teams ability to be a top contender was recognized when Hathaway was named the Series Most Improved Driver in 2008 and won the season ending race at Kawartha Speedway.

     From 2008 to 2012, Hathaway has posted 10 top 5 finishes and 32 top 10s. In 2013, the Dutton, Ontario driver ended his 59 race winless streak by recording his first of 2 wins at one of his favourite tracks; Riverside Speedway in Antigonish, Nova Scotia.  The Team backed up that victory with another win at Barrie Speedway in early September. Consistently battling for podium finishes throughout the season E.H.R earned a 3^rd place finish in the overall final NASCAR Canadian Tire Series point’s standings.

   Since the end of the 2013 season, the Team and driver have continued their hard work throughout the winter months preparing cars and equipment for the upcoming 2014 season, which will be one of the toughest and most competitive in Series’ history. With an 11 race schedule that will take the teams from Alberta to Nova Scotia, there is little room for error.

     E.H.R is looking forward to seeing everyone at the Canadian Motorsports Expo February 7^TH -9^TH.
