PRINCESS AUTO/ROCKSTAR ENERGY DRINK RACER EXCITED FOR CHALLENGE OF GP3R

 

Stouffville, Ontario- August 7, 2014-   Veteran Jason Hathaway will return to NASCAR Canadian Tire Series presented by Mobil 1 competition this Sunday, August 10th at the ‘JuliaWine.com Le 50 Tours’ at Circuit de Trois-Rivieres.

 

Hathaway had struggled on the tricky street course in years past, but a 4th place finish at the event in 2013 has the short track specialist approaching the GP3R with renewed vigor.

 

“Trois-Rivieres is one of the more fun road courses on the schedule”, said Hathaway. “Street courses are always such a blast because there’s so little room for error. If you don’t hit your marks every lap, you can find yourself in trouble in a hurry. It’s that demanding.”

 

“Up until last season, we hadn’t had a lot of luck at Trois-Rivieres”, continued the veteran, “but we turned it around last year, and we’re excited to build on that and see if we can’t improve even more”

 

The driver of the No. 3 Princess Auto/Rockstar Energy Drink Chevrolet will enter Round 7 of the Series 5th in NCATS points, just 6 markers back of the top-3.

 

“This is a big weekend for anyone in the championship hunt”, explained Hathaway. “The top-5 are so close right now, you can’t afford to have a bad race. We can make up a lot of ground in the championship hunt if we have a strong race at Trois-Rivieres, which is exactly what we intend on doing.”

ST-EUSTACHE, QC July 27, 2014–After a pair of strong showings in Western Canada, Jason Hathaway struggled in his NASCAR Canadian Tire Series presented by Mobil 1 return to Autodrome St-Eustache. A strong recovery from a tough qualifying effort was halted after a cut tire late in the race relegated the veteran to an 11th place finish.

 
“I think today was as hard as we’ve had to work with this car all season”, offered a disappointed Hathaway post-race. “We didn’t have the qualifying results we were hoping for, but my guys rolled up their sleeves and got busy, and we ended up battling back through the first half of the race.”

 
The veteran ran within the top-10 for the bulk of the National 250, working his way as high as 2nd, before suffering a flat right rear tire shortly before the halfway mark.
“We’ve always had great cars at St-Eustache, and no luck to seal the deal”, explained the driver of the No. 3 Princess Auto/Rockstar Energy Drink Chevrolet. “Unfortunately, that’s exactly the way our night went. I can’t explain how proud I am of this team, they worked hard to bring this car up to speed today. We will regroup and focus on Trois Rivieres.”

 
Hathaway would lose a pair of laps on a green flag pit stop to change the tire, eventually earning a lap back before running out of time at the checkered flag.

 
Jason Hathaway will return to action with the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series presented by Mobil 1 on August 10th at the Circuit de Trois-Rivieres.

STOUFFVILLE, ON- July 24, 2014- Following a successful western road trip that brought home a pair of podium finishes, Ed Hakonson Racing’s Jason Hathaway is ready for a return to Quebec, as he prepares for the ‘National 250’ at Autodrome St-Eustache.

“St-Eustache is one of my favourite stops every season, I absolutely love the atmosphere there”, said Hathaway. “Our Quebec fan base is absolutely incredible, and each year they seem to bring it up a notch at St-Eustache.”

 

A veteran of the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series presented by Mobil 1, Hathaway will enter July 26th’s event in search of his first career victory at the demanding quarter mile.

 

“We’ve always had really good cars at St-Eustache, and just haven’t had the luck to bring it all together”, explained Hathaway. Hathaway will enter the National 250 4th in championship points – just 22 markers back of the lead – and is well aware how important a strong performance will be to his championship aspirations.

SASKATOON, SK- Jason Hathaway capped off a successful western swing with the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series presented by Mobil 1 on July 16th, tallying a 2nd place finish in the Velocity Prairie Thunder 250 at Auto Clearing Motor Speedway.

The runner-up performance comes hot on the heels of a third place finish at Edmonton International Raceway on July 11th, and serves to inject Hathaway’s No. 3 Pro.Point Tools/Rockstar Energy Drink Chevrolet into the championship conversation.

“This was a great points night for us, my Ed Hakonson Racing team gave me a phenomenal car”, smiled Hathaway in post-race technical inspection.

“I needed one more lap”, continued Hathaway, “LP [Dumoulin] ran a great race, hats off to him. We were getting better with each passing lap, and had LP right on our nose as we crossed the stripe for the checkered flag.”

The event marked Hathaway’s 7th podium in his last 9 oval starts, further entrenching himself as one of the Series’ top short track performers.

“Our oval program is something we’re incredibly proud of. Our team goes above and beyond to give me the best possible equipment each and every week. We have St. Eustache coming up next, and we’d love nothing more than to keep the streak going and park this Chevrolet in victory lane.”

The Velocity Prairie Thunder 250 also marked Hathaway’s debut with marketing partner Pro.Point Tools, a fact that Hathaway hinted may have given him some added motivation.

“We wanted to show the awesome folks from Pro.Point what a NASCAR event is all about. This whole team appreciates their support, and bringing home a podium finish was the best way I could think of to show our thanks.”

Wetaskiwin, Alberta, July 12, 2014- Jason Hathaway in his #3 Rockstar Energy Drink Chevrolet continued his strong oval showing at the inaugural event at Edmonton International Raceway Friday night in front of a packed house.
The #3 race practiced well and qualifying 8th in the starting lineup for the 300 lap event.
“This is a pretty fun little race track. It is a mix of a few tracks we have back in Ontario and I can see it’s going to be pretty racey tonight. The Fans are in for a great show tonight!” Said Hathaway during the autograph session.
Hathaway made his way up to 6th and then reported in to his crew that he picked up a vibration. They diagnosed a right front flat tire and he brought his race machine down pit road to the attention of his crew on lap 95 to change his first of 2 flat tires of the night. With fresh rubber, Hathaway logged laps and saved his equipment for the dash to the finish. With just under 100 laps to go Hathaway was inside the top 5 and set his sights on the top 3 in the running order.
Hathaway went to work and was 2nd on the track when the last caution of the night flew on lap 296; leading to a green-white-checkered finish. Hathaway battled to defend his position, but elected to finish a strong 3rd.
“We will take the 3rd place podium finish and head to Saskatoon. We had a great car tonight and we didn’t need to tear it up battling with the 2 guys in front of us. All in all I am pretty proud of our team tonight; we battled back from those flat tires and got to the front! Thanks to Rockstar for all of their support and being a great partner.”
The Team will head to Auto Clearing Motorspeedway for the 2nd of 2 western swing races on July 16th. Hathaway and his crew will be at the pre-race event at The Longbranch at the Ramada Inn in Saskatoon on Monday night at 7:30 pm.

MIRABEL, QC- July 7, 2014 NASCAR Canadian Tire Series veteran Jason Hathaway continued his strong start to the 2014 season, earning a hard-fought top-10 finish at the oft-challenging Circuit ICAR in Mirabel, Quebec.

 

The #3 Rockstar Energy Drink/HGC Chevrolet qualified in the 10^th position, and remained in contention within the top-10 throughout the entirety of the Jiffy Lube 100, en route to a 9^th place finish.

 

“ICAR has been the most difficult track on the schedule for us”, admitted Hathaway post-race. “We’ve been working hard on our road-course program, and I really feel as though it’s beginning to pay off. This track has been hard on us in the past, between on-track incidents and mechanical problems. So, we’ll definitely take a top-10.”

The successful outing leaves Hathaway 4^th in series points – just 5 markers outside of 3^rd – as the tour readies for its annual Western swing.

 

“There’s something about the West coast that’s brought out the best in this team, lately”, smiled Hathaway when asked about the tour’s upcoming 2 events.

 

“I absolutely love Auto Clearing Motor Speedway, and I can’t wait to hit the new asphalt at Edmonton International Raceway. These are two events that I’ve had circled on my calendar for a while now. They should give us a fantastic opportunity to climb into the top-3 in points”

“The days between races feel like an eternity when you’re coming off of a win”, says Hathaway. “This whole team was so pumped up after Autodrome Chaudiere, I think we would have raced the next day if we could have.”

“Everyone loves the atmosphere in the shop when you’re winning”, continues the pilot of the # 3 Rockstar Energy Drink/HGC Chevrolet. “My guys want to keep that rolling every bit as much as I do.”

Of the 3 road courses the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series will tackle this season, Hathaway is quick to note that none are more demanding than Circuit ICAR.

“ICAR is, in my opinion, the toughest road course on the circuit”, offers the veteran. “It’s very technical. It’s a short track road course, which leaves very little room for error. There’s a complete absence of banking, which can make it a little difficult to pass, so a good qualifying effort is paramount”

Hathaway will enter July 6^th’s event eager to post a top 5 on the second road course of the season, after tallying 4 NCATS wins on ovals across the country.

“I definitely identify myself as a short track guy, but I don’t feel at all out of place on a road course”, explains Hathaway. “I think this team has the tools to pull off a top 5 posting at ICAR and keep the momentum we stared in Chaudiere.”

     Stouffville, Ontario- June 18, 2014– Coming off his first win of the 2014 NASCAR Canadian Tire Series schedule, at Autodrome Chaudiere, Jason Hathaway will be making appearances on the 2 top NASCAR radio shows today.

    Hathaway dominated the weekend at Autodrome Chaudiere, leading both practice sessions at the new ¼ mile oval track south of Quebec City. Hathaway backed up his quick pace in practice by qualifying 3^rd for the 300 lap inaugural event.

    Hathawaylead the most laps in the race recording 174 laps in the number 1 spot during the inaugural NASCAR Canadian Tire Series presented by Mobil 1 race at Autodrome Chaudière, lapping the field up to the 11^th spot. The fast paced race came down to a green-white-checkered finish with Hathaway holding off a hard charging Dilley for the win.

    The triumph at Autodrome Chaudiere is Hathaway’s 4^th series career victory in his #3 Rockstar Energy Drink Chevrolet. It also marked Hathaway’s 3^rd victory in his last six starts and his 3^rd win in the last 4 oval track events dating back to the 2013 schedule.

VALLEE-JONCTION, QC June 15, 2014- After timing in a career-best 3rd in time trials, Jason Hathaway led over 200 laps and survived a rousing late-race battle with veteran Mark Dilley to claim victory in the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series’ rain-delayed inaugural visit to Autodrome Chaudiere.

After dominating the afternoon’s two practice sessions, Hathaway’s #3 Rockstar Energy Drink/HGC Chevrolet clocked in 3rd quickest in time trials with a time of 13.366 seconds and quickly went to work in battling for the lead.

“We were good right off of the trailer”, said Hathaway post-race, “it really is a testament to our program and the amount of work that goes into this car before it ever leaves our shop.”
“I was able to pull to second place on lap-2, and we stayed within the top-2 all afternoon”, continued Hathaway. “It’s not often that you get a car that handles as well as ours did today the first time at a new track, I really can’t say enough about it. This team is incredible.”

The later stages of the race saw Hathaway and Dilley swap the lead six times, with Hathaway emerging from the battle with his fourth career win – third in his last four oval starts.

“Hats off to Mark Dilley – because that was an absolute blast”, reflected Hathaway. “I lost count how many times we went back and forth for the lead, it felt as though every time I thought I had him clear, he found a way to take another run at it. Mark’s a gamer, and he’s been doing this a long time, he’s a guy where you really feel as though you’ve done something when you can keep him behind you.”

“It was an honour to put on a show like this for these fans. It’s our first time here, and I think every single racer in this paddock wanted to make sure we left a good impression. These fans were fantastic to wait an extra day for this show. I hope we made it worth the wait.”

Jason Hathaway will be back in competition with the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series at Circuit ICAR on July 6th for the Jiffy Lube 100 pres. by La Petite Bretonne.
