SUCCESSFUL SEASON FOR EHR/T3R & HATHAWAY ENDS WITH 7TH PLACE FINISH AT KAWARTHA

September 26, 2010, Fraserville, Ontario- Jason Hathaway, EHR/T3R and the #3 Snap-on Tools/Rockstar Energy Drink Dodge ran their final race late yesterday afternoon at Kawartha Speedway as their 13 race 2010 NASCAR Canadian Tire Series finished up.  This season was successful for the Team achieving their goals and recording a team high top 5 finishes.

As it has been most of the season at each and every track, the Teams’ practice on Saturday went well and the car showed some great speed and handling abilities.  A rain soaked qualifying effort hampered Hathaway’s qualifying run, posting a 12th place starting spot.  As was the story all season long in qualifying efforts, lap times were incredibly close.

The start of the final race of the 2010 season was postpones for about 2 hours while rain activity passed in and out of the area on Saturday afternoon. During the rain delay Hathaway talked about his car.  “We have another good car here this weekend.  Tyler and the guys worked hard this week in the shop and they have given me a car that I think can go to the front.   This track is pretty fast and fun to drive and our Vortex Brake Pad “Brake Cam” camera for the TSN television broadcast will give us some pretty cool shots.”

With rain looming all day and into the evening the race finally got underway at 6:30 pm.  The game plan from Crew Chief Tyler Case from the top of the pit box was to help get Jason all he needed to get to the front while watching the weather to adjust the Teams strategy. Hathaway started on the plan right front the drop of the green flag moving into 11th on lap 1 and by lap 30 was 8th in the running order.

After contact with another driver racing for 7th position, Hathaway felt he had a tire going down on his racing machine.  He brought his car down onto pit road on the next caution for right side tires.  He went out at the end of the lead lap in 18th and worked his way back up through the back avoiding some back of the pack wrecks.  Hathaway showed some great driving when avoiding the wrecks earning a top 3 running position on lap 136 of the 250 lap race.  As the laps clicked down to the end Hathaway’s early taken right side tires wore and he lost traction.  Hathaway held onto his car and finished a well deserved 7th place.

“This has been a great season for our Team and I am proud to be a part of it.  We had a great car tonight, but having to take right side tires so early in the race hurt our challenge abilities as the race got closer to the end.  We moved up in the point’s championship finish this season and our team is really making a mark in this series.  Other Teams have really taken notice of our progress and it feels good to represent all of our sponsors. I want to thank Snap-on Tools, Rockstar Energy Drink and Vortex Brake Pads for their awesome support this season. Napoleon Grills continued their marketing program with us this season as well and we are proud to have as long time supporters.  DSC Security Products joined us in 2010 and they have been a great and excited group to work with. Thanks to Bryan Cathcart for his help in getting our Team transporter across the country.  I really want to thank our crew and their families for all their hard work and for allowing them to help us each and every week.  I have to finally thank our Team owner Ed Hakonson who gives us great equipment and the backing we need to set and achieve our goals together.  This was a successful season for all of us.”

The # Snap-on Tools/Rockstar Energy Drink Dodge Team posted 11 top 10 and 3 top 5 finishes this season and finished 6th in the 2010 Championship points battle.

PODIUM SLIPS AWAY FROM SNAP-ON TOOLS/ROCKSTAR ENERGY DRINK DODGE AT RIVERSIDE

September 19, 2010, Antigonish, Nova Scotia- Jason Hathaway, EHR/T3R and the #3 Snap-on Tools/Rockstar Energy Drink Dodge once again showed that they are a team to be reckoned with this past weekend on the 1/3 high banked oval of Riverside Speedway, outside of Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Practice went well for the team on Saturday afternoon posting a 3rd place fastest car on the speed charts.  Qualifying later that afternoon placed Hathaway 9th in the starting order for the 300 lap quick paced race.

Hathaway was happy with his car before the start of the race. “This is a pretty quick track and we are looking forward to a good run this afternoon. The car is fast and handling really well.”

It didn’t take long for Hathaway to show what the car was capable of when the race got underway.  Just before the 100 lap mark, the #3 Snap-on Tools/Rockstar Energy Drink Dodge was lined up in the 6th spot. The crew brought his racing machine in for fuel and tires on lap 82.  The crew did a great job and sent Hathaway back out on the track in the 7th spot.

New tires and a great handing race car saw Hathaway through long green flag runs. On lap 246 Hathaway’s great driving and patience all came together when he pulled into the third spot in the running order.  The top 3 placed drivers pulled away as a group and set their own pace.  Hathaway vied for 2nd place for 14 laps before settling into 3rd .  With only 10 laps to go Hathaway started to slip back in the running order, finishing 5th.

“Our car was once again pretty awesome. The crew did a great job in the pits today and we thought we had a car for the podium again this weekend.  It was great to run with Steckley and Thompson, but that podium finish slipped away from us.  We have been running up front and we hope to finish the season off next week up there as well.” Said a happy Hathaway after the race.

The Team will finish up the 2010 NASCAR Canadian Tire Series schedule this weekend September 25th when they take their # 3 Snap-on Tools/Rockstar Energy Drink Dodge to the .375 mile track of Kawartha Speedway near Bowmanville, Ontario.

PODIUM FINISH FOR HATHAWAY AT BARRIE WRECKED BY LAP CAR

September 12, 2010, Barrie, Ontario- Jason Hathaway, EHR/T3R and the #3 Snap-on Tools/Rockstar Energy Drink Dodge  had an excellent podium placing race Saturday night, at the Wild Wing 300, cut short by an accident involving a lap car that Hathaway was attempting to pass.

The Team initially struggled to show speed on the practice charts early on Saturday afternoon, but continued to tune on their set up.  The focus was to the get the car comfortable for Hathaway for long green flag runs during the gruelling 300 lap event around the tight and exciting 1/4 mile track.  Hathaway qualified a tough 13th in the starting order.

“Our starting spot really doesn’t show what we think we have in this car tonight.  This is a long race and we need to be smart and get this car up to the front.” Said Hathaway before climbing into his race machine to start the event.

Starting 13thth, the primary objective was to stay clean and get the car headed to the front, hopefully stay out of trouble.  Hathaway had an excellent start and by lap 36 was in the 10th spot.  A long green flag run just before the half way point of the race really showed what the Team had in their Snap-on on Tools/Rockstar Energy Drink Dodge, taking the inside line under his competitors moving up numerous positions.  By lap 177 Hathaway was just inside the top 3, running in the 2nd spot with some great momentum.  He challenged for the lead for 17 laps, but eventually settled into the 3rd place, getting himself into a comfortable rhythm.

Disaster for the Team hit on lap 264, while running 3rd, Hathaway was spun by an overzealous lapped car in corner 2.  He was passed by the leader, going a lap down, trying to get the car fired and straightened out as the caution flag came out. He re-started 13th.  The Team called Hathaway into the pits for tires with 25 laps to go, in hopes of catching a break and working their way back onto the lead lap and putting the heat on the leaders once again.  Unfortunately, the caution flew once again not giving Hathaway enough laps to make up the distance; Hathaway was relegated to the 10th finishing position.

A frustrated driver commented after the race. “Our car was great tonight. I am really disappointed that the lap car I was trying to clear wouldn’t give me the room to run. This track requires a lot of give and take and the accident really wrecked our finish night.  The crew worked hard this weekend and I hate that we weren’t able to put this car on the podium, where it belonged, for them and our great sponsors.”

The Team will take their # 3 Snap-on Tools/Rockstar Energy Drink Dodge to the high banked 1/3 oval at Riverside Speedway near Antigonish, Nova Scotia, this coming weekend.  The event will be the 12th stop on the 13 race NASCAR R Canadian Tire Series schedule, September 18, 2010.

TOP 5 FOR HATHAWAY AT MONTREAL ON LIVE TELEVISION

August 29, 2010, Montreal, Quebec,- Jason Hathaway, EHR/T3R and the #3 Snap-on Tools/Rockstar Energy Drink Dodge were joined the on the race schedule by NASCAR Nationwide Series this weekend at the famous Circuit Gilles Villeneuve for the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series NAPA Autopro 100.

The start of the weekend was tough for the Team as the #3 Snap-on Tools/Rockstar Energy Drink Dodge struggled to get a clean lap posted during practice due to caution flags on the track.  During qualifying Hathaway posted a 16th place qualifying result, again struggling to get a clean lap due to on track accidents that shortened the qualifying session.

Starting 16th, the main focus of the Team was to get working through the pack and toward the front in the quick 23 lap race. Hathaway got his drive toward the front going early making the most of his ability to get through corner 1 and 2 well.  Hathaway made most of his moves through those 2 corners as well as corner 3 and by lap 17 was 7th in the running order. With 5 laps to go Hathaway made his way through a tangle between 2 cars and slid into 5th place in the running order.  The race finished under green, white, checker flag conditions and Hathaway posted a 5th place finish.

Hathaway was pleased with the teams’ best road course finish of the 2010 season.  “I am pretty proud of our finish today. We finished the last of the road courses of the year on a high note and we have had steady improvement throughout the season.  Road courses are hard on brakes and our Vortex Brake Pads kept us in the game for sure.  The live television today was excellent and the stands were packed, I hope the fans really enjoyed the race. ”

The Team will have one weekend off before finishing up the 2010 season with 3 oval track races in a row.  On September 11th the Team will race under the lights at Barrie Speedway, followed by Riverside Speedway in Antigonish, Nova Scotia September 18th with the season finale at Kawartha Speedway near Peterborough, Ontario on September 25th.

Hard Night for Hathaway at Mosport

August 22, 2010-Bowmanville, Ontario-Jason Hathaway, EHR/T3R and the #3 Snap-on Tools/Vortex Brake Pads Dodge were hoping for an excellent showing at the 1/2mile MOSPORT oval just outside of Bowmanville, Ontario. Unfortunately some tough luck on the track would keep the Team from realizing that goal.

The #3 Snap-on Tools/Vortex Brake Pads Dodge ran really well in practice right off of the trailer and was 3rd in practice times on the speed charts.  Hathaway drew the #3 qualifying position in the qualifying order. A slick race track during his qualifying effort after a heavy down pour harboured Hathaway’s qualifying effort, but managed to pull together a 7th place qualifying effort.

During the 200 lap race it did not take long for Hathaway to make his way towards the front as he settled into the  5th place in the running order until lap 77 when Hathaway came in for a fuel stop to take him to the end of the race.  He went back out on the track in 8th and stayed there until lap 128 when he came in once again to get fresh right side tires.  Hathaway was once again in his rhythm and posted the fastest running times on the track multiple times as he worked his way back towards the front after his tire stop.

An accident in corner 1 & 2 on lap 177 tagged Hathaway as he tried to avoid the accident.  The Team didn’t see any immediate damage and it wasn’t until a few laps later that the damage to his race machine showed when he spun and backed his car into the wall after his left rear tire gave way.  Hathaway brought his battered Dodge to the attention of his crew who went to work on the rear end and patched it up the best they could to finish the race in the 14th position.

“This was a pretty frustrating race for this team.  Our car was good and getting better as the night went on.  The tire that blew ended our night and I hate it for all of our sponsors that help get us here each and every race.   We will get this car home and get it race ready for Barrie and hopefully make up for what we lost here tonight.”  Said a very disappointed Hathaway after climbing out of his car after the race.

The next event for the Team is this coming weekend August 27th, 28th , 29th at the Circuit de Jacques Villeneuve in Montreal, Quebec, alongside the NASCAR Nationwide Series.

EHR/T3R is proud to be partnered with Snap-on Tools, Rockstar Energy Drink, Vortex Brake Pads, DSC Security Products, Napoleon Grills, Farmers Feed Families line of clothing, Castrol, Cathcart Trucking, Fast Eddie Racewear, Choko Authentic  Apparel , Impact Canopies and Praxair.  For more information on EHR/T3R check out the site at www.team3red.com

Not Quite The Finish Hathaway Wanted At Trois-Rivieres

August 15, 2010-Trois-Rivieres, Quebec,- Jason Hathaway, EHR/T3R and the #3 Snap-on Tools/Rockstar Energy Drink Dodge had a solid finish at the Grand Prix de Trois-Rivieres 1.5 mile road course this weekend, but the finish they brought home was not the one they knew they were capable of.

The #3 Snap-on Tools/Rockstar Energy Drink Dodge posted a good practice result and recorded 12th fastest practice times.  The Team made some more adjustments for qualifying and in the qualifying session Hathaway put down a 5th place qualifying effort.  “We made a few changes after practice to help the car and set it up for qualifying and the race tomorrow.  It definitely helped the car and I think we have a great chance tomorrow.” Said Hathaway after qualifying.

Starting 5th, Hathaway got his drive toward the front going early and made his way up the running order to 3rd, battling with some of the great road course competitors in the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series.  A miss queue just before the half way point, in a braking zone, caused Hathaway to spin trying to avoid another car and he fell back to the 12th spot.  With limited laps left to claw his way back up towards the front, coupled with a number of caution periods on the track, limited Hathaway’s time to get his car to where he wanted it in the running order.  Hathaway put in an amazing drive none the less and brought his #3 Snap-on Tools/Rockstar Energy Drink Dodge home in the 8th spot.

Hathaway knew they had a better finish in the car and him than what the finishing order showed. “We had a great run going and would have been in the top 5 if we didn’t have to avoid the situation in the corner where we spun.  The car war fast and it handled well. Our road course program has been doing well this season and I am looking forward to Montreal in a few weeks to see what we can do there.”

The Team will return to home soil this coming weekend at the Dickies 200 presented by Vortex Brake Pads at the oval at the Mosport International Speedway on Saturday night , August 21, 2010., 2010.

Hathaway Finishes Western Swing With 6th in Saskatoon

August 5, 2010-Saskatoon, Saskatchewan– Jason Hathaway, EHR/T3R and the #3 Snap-on Tools/Rockstar Energy Drink Dodge made their final stop in western Canada yesterday taking part in the Prairie Thunder 250 at Auto Clearing Motorspeedway in Saskatoon.

The #3 Snap-on Tools/Rockstar Energy Drink Dodge was 5th fasted in practice carrying on with their great trackside efforts that carried throughout the western swing.  In qualifying on Wednesday afternoon, Hathaway ran the 5th quickest lap in the field giving him an inside row three starting spot. “We are pretty happy with our performance form last weekend and we are excited about the race tonight.” Said Hathaway after qualifying.

Hathaway found his rhythm right off the top of the 250 lap event moving from 6th place in the running order to the 3rd place.  That was where Hathaway stayed in the running order for the races’ longest green flag run holding off the competition and putting down some incredible lap times.  It wasn’t until lap 203 when the Team finally caught a caution flag to come in for fuel and right side tires.  Hathaway went back out on the track in the 3rd position, but slipped back as the adjustments and new tires changed the set up and Hathaway wasn’t able to hold onto the position.  Hathaway finished up 6th in the finishing order.

“Our car was fast this week, but something changed when we made that last stop. We will go back and look at it and see what happened. I have been pretty proud of this team the whole western trip.  We stuck together and were competitive each and every race.  We will get back home this weekend and get ready for the road course at Trois- Rivieres. I like that track and I am looking forward to it.” Summarized Hathaway after he climbed out of his racing machine.

The Team will now take their #3 Snap-on Tools/Rockstar energy Drink Dodge to the next event at Grand Prix de Trois-Rivieres August 14 & 15th, 2010.

Hathaway Podiums at Motoplex

July 31, 2010-Vernon, BC– Jason Hathaway, EHR/T3R and the #3 Snap-on Tools/Rockstar Energy Drink Dodge made their second stop on the three stop western swing tour at Motoplex, just outside of Vernon, British Columbia this weekend. After a so-so finish at this track last season the Team was pumped to improve their finish and keep the momentum going.

The #3 Snap-on Tools/Rockstar Energy Drink Dodge showed well in practice and was posted fourth fastest on the speed chart after the one hour session. Hathaway was the first car on track to qualify later Saturday afternoon, qualifying his race machine outside row 4, in the 8th starting spot.  “The car ran well in practice but, this is a long race tonight and it will be a test right up to the very end of the race for sure.” Hathaway predicted before sliding into his race car for the main 300 lap event.

Hathaway got into his rhythm early with his sights on the front pack of drivers.  The crew brought Hathaway in for fuel and tires on lap 105 to fix a tight handling race car.  He went a lap down, but raced hard and received the “Lucky Dog Award” placing him back on the lead lap.

As the set up and tire adjustments worked into the car after another stop after hitting the corner 2 wall , Hathaway battled back again driving around the leaders to earn his lap back by running hard and driving his way around the race leaders.  As pit stops cycled through just before the lap 200 mark, Hathaway inherited the first place and convincingly led the race for 30 or more laps.  A great battle to the end with fellow competitor DJ Kennington awarded EHR/Team 3 Red with a 2nd place finish and an exciting race to the very end.

“This is a great finish for us. DJ and I raced hard and we have been friends since we were kids so there is no one more I’d like to race with than him. We had some bad tire luck and got off our pit stop sequence, but Tyler made some great calls and we battled back lap after lap. We had a great time tonight and I’m proud of our Team.” summarized Hathaway as he took the podium and enjoyed the accolades of a podium finish.

The Team will now take their #3 Snap-on Tools/Rockstar Energy Drink Dodge to the last event of the western swing schedule at Auto Clearing Motor Speedway in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan August 4, 2010.

Western Swing Off To Great Start For Hathaway

July 25, 2010 – Edmonton, Alberta – Jason Hathaway, EHR/T3R and the #3 Snap-on Tools/Vortex Brake Pads Dodge made the long trip to the “City of Champions”, Edmonton Alberta, for the first of 3 western events on the 2010 NASCAR Canadian Tire Series schedule.  The Team hoped to redeem themselves after a disappointing run at the Toronto Honda Indy last weekend.

Returning to the track was exciting for Hathaway as the weekends’ events’ got underway.  “I like this track and the fans are great here in Edmonton.”  The first and second practice sessions, taking place on Friday and Saturday, showed well for the Hathaway and his race machine. Qualifying on Saturday afternoon placed Hathaway in the 10TH starting spot for the 32 lap race.

Hathaway ran a consistent race working each lap to find the ideal lien to run as the track surface changed through our race. Hathaway had a great on track battle with the #42 car as their diced back and forth for the 6th spot in the last 10 laps of the race.  It was Hathaway that prevailed in the end bringing his #3 Snap-on Tools/Vortex Brake Pads Dodge home in one piece and in the 6th finishing position.

“It is pretty frustrating when a non regular competitor wants to race to you into a corner and doesn’t know better than to lift.  I had fun racing him all day long, but the last lap of the race was pretty crazy. I had to back out of the corner to make sure the guy didn’t take me out.  In the end NASCAR saw the incident and we came out on top.  The crew worked great this weekend and our road course program got a huge boost.  We will take this and build some momentum going to the next race in British Columbia.

The Team will then take their #3 Snap-on Tools/Vortex Brake Pads Dodge to the oval  at Motorplex in Vernon, British Columbia  July 31,2010  and then onto Auto Clearing Motorspeedway in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan August 4, 2010.
