STOUFFVILLE, ON-MAY 15, 2014- After earning 2 victories in the final 4 races of the 2013 NASCAR Canadian Tire Series schedule, Jason Hathaway was regarded by many within the NCATS community as the hottest driver on the roster at the closing of the season.

Now, after months of reflection, Hathaway and his Team 3 Red/Ed Hakonson Racing team are ready to get back to business, and get back to victory lane.

  February 7, 2014- Stouffville, Ontario- Coming off of a very successful 2013 season, Jason Hathaway and his Ed Hakonson Racing Team are looking forward to greeting the New Year with a brand new look.  After 11 years of running the Dodge & MOPAR brands, Ed Hakonson Racing will move to the all-new 2014 Chevrolet Impala body for the upcoming NASCAR Canadian Tire Series season.  The Team’s #3 Snap-on Tools/Rockstar Energy Drink Chevrolet will be on unveiled at the Canadian Motorsport Expo this weekend February 7^th, 8^th , 9^th  at the International Centre in Toronto.

     Team owner Ed Hakonson is excited about the look and opportunity that comes with running the new body style.  “We have been treated very well by Dodge & MOPAR family over the last 11 years, but our Team felt that it was time to make a change and support one of the other great North American manufacturers in the Series.      Hathaway joined Ed Hakonson Racing in 2006, winning the CASCAR Rookie of the Year. In The NASCAR Canadian Tire Series inaugural season in 2007, Hathaway posted 1 top 5 finish and 7 top 10 finishes. The Teams ability to be a top contender was recognized when Hathaway was named the Series Most Improved Driver in 2008 and won the season ending race at Kawartha Speedway.

     From 2008 to 2012, Hathaway has posted 10 top 5 finishes and 32 top 10s. In 2013, the Dutton, Ontario driver ended his 59 race winless streak by recording his first of 2 wins at one of his favourite tracks; Riverside Speedway in Antigonish, Nova Scotia.  The Team backed up that victory with another win at Barrie Speedway in early September. Consistently battling for podium finishes throughout the season E.H.R earned a 3^rd place finish in the overall final NASCAR Canadian Tire Series point’s standings.

September 22, 2013- Fraserville, Ontario, -Coming off his 2nd win of the season at Barrie Speedway, Hathaway was sitting 3^rd in the 2013 NASCAR Canadian Tire points battle heading into the last race of the season at Kawartha Speedway. #3 Snap-on Tools/Rockstar Energy Drink Dodge showed its winning capabilities this season and the Team was well prepared and was in contention  for another podium, finish in the Pinty’s 250 until a lapped car took him out during the race.

Saturday’s trackside activities were postponed due to rain and rescheduled for Sunday.  Sunday morning’s practice went well for the Team and Hathaway topped the session 2^nd on the speed charts. Qualifying was a little tougher with colder temperatures and the tight lap times. Hathaway posted an 11^th place qualifying effort, but was too phased by his starting spot. “We have a strong car and we like running here.  The point’s battle is pretty exciting and we are happy to be a part of it!”

The Pinty’s 250 got underway just shortly after 3pm and once again, Hathaway’s charge to the front showed early. By lap 50, Hathaway was running comfortably in the 6^th spot.  On lap 78 Crew Chief Craig Masters called his driver down pit road for fuel and a tire pressure adjustment.  Hathaway got back out onto the track in 4^th and after pit stops cycled through, Hathaway restarted in 2^nd. A great battle ensued between Hathaway and his good friend Jr Fitzpatrick; earning the top spot on lap 94.  He convincingly held the lead, putting a quarter track between him and the rest of the field until lap 149 when the caution flew and Hathaway came in for a 4 tire stop, coming out 13^th.

With 4 brand new tires, Hathaway put on a driving school and worked his way back up to the 2^nd spot in the running order, leaving behind his fellow competitors in the Championship hunt.

Hathaway’s successful run was interrupted on lap 217, when an ill thinking and handling lapped car spun out the second place Hathaway in his #3 Snap-on Tools/Rockstar Energy Drink Dodge. Hathaway got his car pointed in the right direction, but unfortunately went down a lap to the leader.

Hathaway earned the free pass on lap 232, but there simply were not enough laps to get back what he lost when he was spun out; recording an 11^th place finish.

“We had a car that could have finished on the podium here today, but being spun by a lapped car really took that out of our grasp. We have definitely spiced up the points battle in 2013 and we made some huge in roads in the process. We showed that we are serious contenders in this series. This has been a pretty successful season for our Team and our sponsors and we are happy to finish up 3^rd in the Championship battle.”

The Pinty’s 250 will Premier on Sunday October 6^th at 5:30 pm EST on TSN2 and on RDS at 9 pm EST on Friday October 18^th with a special season ending 90 minute program.

September 8, 2013- Barrie, Ontario, –After a heartbreaking run at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park last weekend, Hathaway and his team were excited to get back to the oval tracks. Although Barrie Speedway is infamous for it wrecks and beating and banging, Hathaway put on a great show for the crowd in his #3 Snap-on Tools/Rockstar Energy Drink Dodge rallying to bring home his second win of the 2013 NASCAR Canadian Tire Series season.

After rain postponed Saturday’s originally scheduled race, Hathaway and his team returned to the tight .333 mile oval to qualify and race the Hudco Electric Supply 300 Sunday.  Showing once again how fast Hathaway he can be, he posted a 6^th place starting position and readied his car for a grueling 300 lap run.

“The car feels pretty good here. Starting up front will help to keep us out of the chaos that happens at this track. We are looking forward to a good day today.” Said Hathaway during the on track autograph session.

When the race got underway, patience was the call of the day.  Crew Chief Craig Masters and Car Chief Graham Annis worked their strategy and Hathaway made it happen on the track. By lap 43, Hathaway had his #3 Snap-on Tools/Rockstar Dodge nicely positioned in the 3^rd spot on the track.  Once Hathaway had cleared the considerable lapped traffic on the track he set his sights on the top spot. With some great driving, Hathaway took the lead on lap 79.

The crew topped off Hathaway’s race fuel up and made a quick chassis adjustment on lap 89, under caution and did a great job. Hathaway went back out in 2^nd spot and it wasn’t 4 laps after the green flag flew that he was back leading the field.

Hathaway took tires on lap 145 and worked his way back from 8th place into the top 3.  With a number of great restarts and some fabulous driving, Hathaway took command of the field for the last time on lap 284 until the checkered flag flew, bringing home his second win of the season.

“I am so proud of our team and of all of the support we get from our sponsors and families.  We said we would battle back after the finish last weekend and that is exactly what we did. Graham and Craig made some great calls and I was happy with our car pretty much all day. We came here prepared to win and we did just that.” Said Hathaway in Victory Lane with his 2 daughters along side of him.

This win helped Hathaway earn back 3^rd spot in the Championship battle and tighten up the points as they come down to the last race of the season, the Pinty’s 250 at Kawartha Speedway in 2 weeks’ time; September 21, 2013.

The Hudco Electric Supply 300 will air on TSN on Saturday, Sept. 14 at 2 p.m. EST, and on RDS on Friday, October 4th at 8 p.m EST.

September 1, 2013- Bowmanville, Ontario- Coming off his win at Riverside Speedway two weeks ago, Hathaway had a well prepared #3 Snap-on Tools/ Rockstar Energy Drink Dodge race car ready to run up front in the Pinty’s 200 Presents the Clarington 200 on Sunday morning at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park.

The team practice well and Hathaway felt pretty comfortable with his race machine. “We have a great car here this weekend. We finished well here in the spring and we are looking forward to a good race.”

Hathaway scored his best qualifying effort on Saturday afternoon locking down a 5^th place starting spot for the 51 lap main event.

Once the race got underway Hathaway got into his rhythm and showed the strength of his road course program. On lap 15 Hathaway radioed in to his crew chief that he had water on his windshield. The crew went to work on diagnosing the issue with Hathaway’s race motor on pit road, unfortunately going down 2 laps in the pits. When Hathaway got back on track he charged back from his 2 lap deficit and earned back both of his laps by lap 36.  Unfortunately, the race was red flagged on lap 42 and a further decision was made by NASCAR officials to end the race due to time constraints.

A disappointed Hathaway climbed out of his racing machine finishing 25^th. “We finally overcame our overheating issue and had earned our spot back on the lead lap. Not only that but, I still had 4 new tires in my pit stall waiting to be put on the car. I sure would have liked to see how many cars we could have passed after bolting new tires on. We are a strong team; we will battle back next weekend.”

The Team will get back to the oval track configurations next weekend as they continue their season at Barrie Speedway for the Hudco Electric Supply 300 on Saturday September 8, 2013.
