HATHAWAY HAS SOLID RESULTS ON NPS WESTERN SWING

Photo by Matthew Murnaghan/NASCARWetaskiwin, AB – July 28, 2019-Jason Hathaway in his #3 Kubota Chevrolet came off of the western swing to Saskatchewan and Alberta with a top 10, a tough finish, and a podium.

The first event of the Western swing started with 2-125 lap races on Wednesday night at Wyant Group Speedway just outside of Saskatoon, SK. Hathaway practiced well and qualified 5 th and had a solid run in the race first 125 lap race finishing 6 th.

The 2 nd race was postponed by intense rainstorms that moved through the area. The starting grid was set by the drivers fastest lap time from the 1 st race and Hathaway started 10 th . A mechanical issue during the race put him 2 laps down to the leaders and he finished a disappointing 17 th place.

The Team worked on their race machines on the day between races and made an appearance on Friday at GBS Equipment in support of their Open House in Humboldt, SK. The Team then continued on to Edmonton International Raceway in Wetaskiwin, AB for the LUXXUR 300 Saturday night.

At EIR Hathaway wasn’t totally happy with his car in practice and found it tough to find the balance he was looking for. The skies over the race track opened up with rain after practice and washed out qualifying. The 300-lap starting grid was set by practice times from earlier in the day, landing Hathaway 10 th.

Right off the top of the race Hathaway was hit hard by another competitor and fell back to 13 th . Hathaway got up on the wheel and marched his way forward and by lap 50 he was 7 th in the running order.

By the half way break in the race Hathaway was 6 th. The team brought Hathaway down pit road during the break for tires, fuel and an adjustment that would take him the rest of the 150-lap distance. Hathaway did an awesome job and worked his way up the pack and on lap 242 was in 2 nd place. The race was red flagged for rain on lap 275 and was eventually called complete as additional heavy rain moved in posting Hathaway
in 2 nd place and giving him his first podium finish of the year.

“We started off well in Saskatoon in the first race and then the mechanical failure in the second one was really tough to take. Our Team rallied and had a better race here tonight with this podium finish. Thanks to all of the fans for sticking it out with the rain and to our sponsors who were able to join us here tonight.” Said Hathaway after the race.

The Team will have a few weeks off before they return to competition at Grand Prix de Trois Rivieres August 10 th & 11 th, 2019.

HATHAWAY REBOUNDS AT HONDA INDY

Photo by Matthew Manor for NASCAR

Toronto, Ontario – July 13, 2019- The second road course of the 2019 season was a solid confidence builder for Hathaway and his team this weekend at the prestigious Honda Indy on Saturday.

Practice and qualifying were tough for Hathaway as he relearned the track he hadn’t seen for 3 years. The laps during those 2 sessions were key to Hathaway adjustments and helped to sort out the road course and it’s technical features again.

Hathaway qualified 14 th on the starting grid and set his focus on taking his #3 Kubota Chevrolet towards the front. Extreme weather moved into the Exhibition Place area Saturday afternoon before the race and delayed the start of the event 2 hours.

When the race did get underway Hathaway started to make their way through the pack on the tight 2.874 km temporary street course. By the half way point Hathaway was up to 11 th on a track is tight and hard to pass on.

A late race restart gave Hathaway some great passing opportunities and he finished the day up 8 th in the finishing order.

“I’m pretty happy with how we finished up today. I haven’t been here in in a few years and brought a new car from year’s past. Our crew did a great job making adjustments in practice qualifying and for the race. We ran our fastest lap of the weekend on lap 23 of the race,“ said Hathaway with a coy smile on his face after the race.

The Team will head west at the end of July for the Series annual trek west to Wyant Group Speedway in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan July 24 th and Edmonton International Raceway near Edmonton, Alberta July 27th.

LATE RACE CRASH DASHES GREAT FINISH

Chaudiere, QC June 29, 2019- Hathaway’s return to Autodrome Chaudière, looked promising during the 300 lap event but was cut short by a late race crash.

With rain delaying Saturday’s regular schedule, Hathaway in his #3 Kubota Chevrolet and his fellow competitors finally saw track time for 30-minute practice Saturday afternoon following by qualifying.

Hathaway qualified 11th, but with this experience at this track he was ready to head towards the front.

Hathaway went to work quickly when the green flag dropped on the 300-lap main event Saturday evening.  Hathaway knocked off positions as he made his way through the field.

By the mandatory break at lap 155, Hathaway was up to 7th position in the running order.

At the break the crew made their adjustments and serviced the car and sent Hathaway back out to content for a top spot.

With fresh tires and adjustments Hathaway once again moved towards the front. By lap 180, he was in the top 3 and looking for a podium finish.

Unfortunately, the top finish they were looking for was not in the cards as a late race crash took Hathaway out of competition and retired his car 15th.

“It is unbelievable how rough this series has become beating and banging on each other off the start of the race.  It was a tough race for our Kubota Chevrolet tonight. We will battle back. “Said Hathaway after the race.

The next event for Hathaway and his Team will be Saturday July 13th at the Honda Indy in Toronto.

TOUGH WEEKEND FOR HATHAWAY AT JUKASA

Hagersville, Ontario – June 2, 2019- Hathaway’s return to oval track racing this weekend did not go as the driver and Team had planned.

Hathaway dominated the top of the speed charts on Saturday afternoon during practice, but the car was wicked loose during qualifying and Hathaway qualified 13th.

The Team regrouped Saturday night after the APC 200 was delayed until Sunday at 1:30 pm due to weather.

Sunday afternoon Hathaway took the green flag and made quick moves to the front of the running order making his way up to 8th before pitting for fuel for his #3 Kubota Chevrolet on lap 26.

Hathaway made his way back up to 2nd place by lap 100, but it was short lived when he detected an audible miss in his race machine.

The team diagnosed an electrical issue and the Team changed the battery under green going down 7 laps to the leaders.

The repair worked and Hathaway ran some great laps, keeping pace with the leaders and finished 14th in the finishing order.

“We had pretty tough weekend. The car practiced really well,” said Hathaway. “But the race was frustrating. Our boys did a good job diagnosing the issue and got it fixed. We will be back looking for a top performance at Chaudière at the end of the month.”

The next event for Hathaway and his Team will be June 29th at Autodrome Chaudière near Quebec City.

HATHAWAY RETURNS WITH SOLID CTMP PERFORMANCE

Stouffville, Ontario May 24, 2019- Pinty’s Series veteran makes respectable return to fulltime Pinty’s Series competition with a top five finish in Clarington 200 at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park.

When Jason Hathaway announced in March that he had decided to return to fulltime competition he knew he could still get the job done and he showed everyone he’s off to a good start in keeping that promise.

Hathaway, along with new team partner Kubota Canada highlighted on his #3 Kubota Chevrolet Camaro, qualified 9th and finished an impressive 5th in the Clarington 200 at CTMP. The veteran who now has the second most starts in the history of the series with 125 starts brought his car home 5th and was all smiles after his impressive return.

“We had a great race in our brand-new Kubota race car,” said Hathaway. “Man, I had a blast all weekend behind the wheel again. This is going to be a great season.”

Hathaway joined a couple of other drivers who decided to pit for fresh tires around the midway point of the 51 lap race.

After the pit stop, Hathaway had to work his way through the field and was back in the top 10 in just a handful of laps and worked his way into the top five in the race eventually won by Kevin Lacroix.

“We pitted for tires earlier than most other drivers and that wound up hurting us in the end, but a top five finish is a solid start to the season.” said Hathaway.

The Clarington 200 will be shown on TSN this Saturday at 11:30 a.m. and also on RDS2 on Sunday June 15 th at 10:30 a.m. The St. Thomas, Ontario native will join the series in its next stop at Jukasa Motor Speedway on Saturday, June 1.

Hathaway Set to Return to Full Time NPS Competition in 2019

Stouffville, Ontario- March 7, 2019- After a 2-year hiatus Jason Hathaway will return to full time competition in the NASCAR Pinty’s Series in 2019.

Hathaway took some time off from full time NASCAR competition to spend time with his family after completing the 2016 season.  During that time EHR built a brand new Pro Late Model to have some fun with in 2017; winning the inaugural Canadian Short Track Nationals at Jukasa Motor Speedway and sitting on the Pole at the IWK 250 at Riverside Speedway. In 2018 they fielded a full time NPS program as well as hitting the big Pro Late Model shows in Ontario and Nova Scotia.

“I still have the competitiveness burning inside of me to win races in the NASCAR Pinty’s Series. I know I can get the job done in the seat and with my team. We are a close group of hard-working guys and we all decided it was time for us to run full time together again.” Said Hathaway from the Team’s Stouffville, Ontario based shop.

To support the Team’s efforts for 2019, EHR and Kubota Canada are pleased to announce that Kubota will be the primary sponsor on the #3 Kubota Chevrolet Camaro for the NASCAR Pinty’s Series.

“Kubota Canada is absolutely thrilled to have Jason back in the #3 Kubota Chevrolet for the 2019 season”, said Rob Allison, Director, Brand for Kubota Canada Ltd. “Jason’s credentials speak for themselves and along with the great team he has supporting him, I’m confident he’ll be contending for the #1 position during each and every race”.

Team owner Ed Hakonson said,“We are excited to have Jason back behind the wheel for the 2019 season. He really showed his talent over the years winning races and always representing our brands well. We are proud to be able to field a full time NASCAR Pinty’s Series team again this season and are looking forward to flying the Kubota colours.”

Powell Leads Practice & Finishes Top 10 at Jukasa

Hagersville, Ontario- September 30, 2018 – The NASCAR Pinty’s Series finished up the 2018 season last night at Jukasa Motor Speedway. E.H.R. driver Cole Powell had a great night and showcased his talent in the season finale.

Powell topped the charts in the afternoon practice session, but was beat out in qualifying by Kennington by a mere 3/100ths of a second in qualifying for the pole for the 200-lap main event Saturday night.

The Team turned their attention to the race. Powell was still mathematically in the hunt for the Championship so every lap and position counted in the Team’s pursuit.

The first part of the race saw a long green-flag run. Caution finally came out on lap 75 and Crew Chief Craig Masters brought the #3 Kubota/Copp’s Build all Chevrolet down pit road for fuel.

Powell continued to log laps running in the top 5 most of the night.

The Team pitted for tires on lap 136 looking to charge back to the top spot.  Powell battled his way back up to 3rd by lap 147 and took over 2nd place on lap 183. A late race restart on lap 195 saw the Team’s hopes of a podium finish slip away as Powell was hung out on the outside of the racing groove and slipped back to 6th where he finished the night. Finishing 6th, garnered the Team a 4th place finish in the 2018 Championship.

“Finishing 6th after running up front all night is a pretty tough way to end the season. I will say though that this is a great Team and we have accomplished some awesome things for our first year together.” said Powell after climbing out of his race machine.

Powell was honoured with the NASCAR Pinty’s Series Inaugural Oval Racer of the Year award at the conclusion of the race.

Team owner Ed Hakonson was happy with his Team and driver in 2018. “This has been a great season. Cole has done a great job, learning these cars and logging laps at each track. The award that was given to Cole tonight validates all that he has done in 2018. Our Team was also great this year bringing competitive cars each and every week to the track and working together to get the best results. This was a superb Team effort alongside all of our partners that we are proud and honoured to have with us.”

Hathaway to Wheel Late Model at Jukasa

Stouffville, Ontario – September 29, 2018 – Jason Hathaway will get behind the wheel of a late model this weekend prepared by McColl Racing Enterprises at Jukasa Motor Speedway as part of the NASCAR Pinty’s Series Fall Brawl event

The Ontario Late Model race cars will make their first appearance at Jukasa for a 50-lap feature on Saturday night. For that race, Hathaway will field the #3 Kubota Chevrolet .

“I’m looking forward to getting into the Late Model this weekend. The equipment that Mike McColl brings to the track is top notch and I’m excited about getting into one of his cars. Jukasa is a fun track and we have had some success there, so running the Kubota colours on a late model on Saturday will be awesome.” Said Hathaway.

The NASCAR Pinty’s Series will also crown it’s 2018 Champion and E.H.R. team driver Cole Powell is currently sitting 3rd in points heading into the weekend.

POLE WIN, TOP 5 FINISH FOR POWELL AT NHMS

Loudon, New Hampshire – September 22, 2018 – The NASCAR Pinty’s Series made its historic first trip outside of Canada for a 100 lap event at “The Magic Mile”, New Hampshire Motor Speedway. The Team had never been to NHMS but Powell had the advantage of some familiarity with the track, having visited four times as part of the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour.

Powell practiced well in the #3 Kubota/Copp’s Chevrolet, with his times among the top 5, but really showed some speed when it came to qualifying where he set the fast time and won his first career pole in NASCAR Pinty’s Series competition.

Powell led for 10 laps before being overtaken by the No. 74. He reported the car feeling loose throughout the race. Powell made a pit stop midway through the event for fuel and an adjustment. After falling a bit off the pace and dropping back to P8, Powell battled the No. 3 back up to P4 to finish the race. He ran out of laps before having a chance to challenge for the lead.

“The car was real loose all race, but our EHR team brought me a great car once again. It was amazing to win our first pole in NPS! I want to thank Copp’s Buildall and Kubota for their support, and I hope they are proud of the strong season we are having,” commented Powell.

Cole Powell is currently 3rd in the Championship points battle, sitting 19 points back from the leader. The Team is now preparing for the Pinty’s Series season finale, the Pinty’s Fall Brawl at Jukasa Motor Speedway, September 29th.

Podium Finish for Powell at St. Eustache

St. Eustache, Quebec- September 9, 2018- Although they had to battle for position from the back of the field, getting back to the ovals for the Ed Hakonson Racing team and driver Cole Powell in their #3 Kubota/Copp’s Chevrolet resulted in a great finish for the Team.

Powell practiced well on Saturday afternoon, P3, but had a rough qualifying effort, landing him in the 13th starting spot.

On a track where track position is everything, Powell had to get to work early to try to make passes in the Lucas Oil 250 event, on Saturday night, in front of packed house trackside.

By lap 85, Powell was P7 with only 12 cars on lead lap.

On the 2nd NASCAR sanctioned pit road break, Powell came down pit road for tires and fuel to take him the rest of the way in the 250-lap event.

Powell made good use of a number of restarts starting on the inside line after the half way point and as the laps wound down in the race, Powell was sitting in the top 5.

A late race caution came on lap 246, collecting some top running cars and the race went into overtime. The race finished under a green, white, checkered finish and Powell was able to muscle his way to a 3rd place finish.

“This was a great finish for us tonight. This is a tough little bull ring and the car might have a few less fiberglass panels on it, but I’m happy we were able to bring our Kubota/Copp’s Chevrolet home on the podium.” Said Powell after climbing from his race machine.

The Lucas Oil 250 will air on TSN on Saturday, September 15 at 3:30 pm and on RDS on Tuesday October 2, 2018 at 10:30 pm.

Powell is currently 3rd in the Championship points battle as the Team gets a week off before the Series will make its first visit to the US for The Visit New Hampshire 100 at New

Hampshire Speedway September 21 & 22, 2018.
