HATHAWAY TAKES POINTS LEAD WITH PODIUM AT SUNSET

INNISFIL, ONTARIO-June 20, 2015-  After an awesome back to back victory at Autodrome Chaudière last weekend, in Hathaway’s 100th NASCAR race, Jason Hathaway and his team showed the strength of their oval program with a 2nd place finish at the inaugural race at Sunset Speedway- the Leland Johnsonville 300.

Hathaway fine-tuned his #3 Brake-works/Fast Eddie Racewear Chevrolet during practice and posted a 9th place stating position for the long 300 lap event.

“The car is pretty racy and I think we have a car that will go the distance tonight. We run our late model here so I have good feel for the track. The race is going to be a great race for the fans.” Said Hathaway looking at the packed house before the race got underway.

Starting 9th , Hathaway got to work early and worked both grooves around the tight 1/3 mile oval. This race marked the first visit for the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series at Sunset Speedway, so fuel mileage and tire wear were an unknown.

The quick paced race ensued a long green flag run from lap 21 to lap 287 with tons of on track action.

During the long green flag Hathaway stayed hard at it and worked his car through traffic. By lap 272 he had worked his way up to 2nd position.

When the caution came out on lap 287, Hathaway and his team elected to pit for fuel and tires and make sure he had what it would take to take to finish the race.

Hathaway brought his #3 Brake-works/Fast Eddie Racewear Chevrolet home to a 2nd place finish.

“That was a great show for the fans tonight. That was a really long green flag run, but the car was good and I was able to make some moves and pass some cars that didn’t handle as well as we did. Credit goes to our guys for their hard work today and to my Crew Chief Craig Masters for making the call to bring me in for tires and fuel. Fuel could have been an issue tonight so we came in for a splash to make sure we had enough to get us the checkered flag.” Said Hathaway after the race.

The 2nd place finished allowed Hathaway to take over the points lead for the first time in his NASCAR career.

Hathaway wins back to back victories at Autodrome Chaudiere

Hathaway wins back to back victories at Autodrome Chaudiere

VALLEE-JONCTION, QC June 13, 2015- After qualifying deep in a super competitive field, Jason Hathaway wheeled his #3 Fast Eddie/Brake-Works Chevrolet to victory on Saturday night at the Budweiser 300 at Autodrome Chaudiere.
Hathaway’s return to Autodrome Chaudière to defend his 2014 win there did not initially go as well as the team wanted. A tough practice and qualifying session put the #3 Fast Eddie Racewear/Brake-Works Chevrolet deep in the field.

“We didn’t have the same feel in the car today as we did coming here last year. We will have to work on the car as the race goes on and see if we can work our way to the front.” Said Hathaway during the busy autograph session.Hathaway did a great job working his way up from his 13th starting spot to 7th as the half way break on lap 154. Crew Chief Craig Master and Car Chief Graham Annis made some great adjustments on the car and Hathaway used the second half of the race to position himself within striking distance of the top running spot. With some great restarts, Hathaway earned the lead of the quick paced race on lap 268 and didn’t look back. He brought home his 1st win of the 2015 season and his 6th NASCAR Canadian Tire Series win.“This is pretty cool bringing home this win tonight.” Said Hathaway in Victory Lane. “This race marked my 100th NASCAR start, which is pretty amazing and on top of that it is my daughter Hannah’s 9th birthday today. She couldn’t be here tonight, but she will love to hear that we won on her birthday! Pretty cool series of events today.”

“The boys did a great job calling the adjustments we needed and the second half of the race we were in a great rhythm.” Continued Hathaway. ” I enjoyed running Scott for the lead. The crowd here was great and we were happy to be back here this year!”

Hathaway and Gary Klutt each have 84 points after the first 2 races and are tied for 1st place in the 2015 NCTS points contest.

NASCAR Canadian Tire Series News & Notes: Chaudiere

  • Budweiser 300 Will Mark Series’ Milestone 100th Race
  • Defending Chaudiere Winner Hathaway Shares In Historic Event

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (June 9, 2015) – The NASCAR Canadian Tire Series presented by Mobil 1 will make history with the drop of the green flag in Saturday’s Budweiser 300 at Autodrome Chaudiere, and defending race winner Jason Hathaway will share in the milestone event.

Hathaway is one of just three drivers that have competed in each of the series’ first 99 races, and a victory in last year’s inaugural Budweiser 300 ranks among his career highlights. Despite turning in a dominant performance throughout the race, Hathaway needed to out-duel Mark Dilley in a tense green-white-checkered flag finish to reach Victory Lane.

The St. Thomas, Ontario, native is eager to return to the wide and banked quarter-mile oval in Valle-Jonction, Quebec, to chase another victory.

“I can’t wait to get there, I’d drive there right now,” Hathaway said. “It’s a great race track. It’s great for the fans to see us run up there on that nice oval.”

Hathaway will share the history of Saturday’s event with D.J. Kennington and Scott Steckly, who will also make it 100-for-100 by starting the Budweiser 300.

“It’s quite an accomplishment,” Hathaway said. “From where I started as a kid running go-karts and street stocks in Ontario, there wasn’t a thought in my mind I’d run 100 NASCAR races in Canada.”

Like Kennington and Steckly, Hathaway has enjoyed team stability throughout his career, a big factor in making it to each and every event.

“It’s an accomplishment for myself, but also for my family and my team,” Hathaway said. “I’ve been to all 99 races with Ed Hakonson Racing and Team 3 Red, so I haven’t been like an old hockey player traded around a few times.”

While Hathaway will get to share in the exclusivity of the 100th Canadian Tire Series event on Saturday, he’ll primarily be driven to repeat as the Budweiser 300 winner.

“It was nice to win up there last year on Father’s Day and have the kids there, so hopefully we can win again and bring home another trophy,” Hathaway said.

Fast Facts:

The Race:  The Budweiser 300 will be the second of 11 events on the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series presented by Mobil 1 schedule, and the first of four trips to the province of Quebec.

The Procedure:  The maximum starting field is 24 cars, including provisionals. The first 21 cars will have secured starting positions through two-lap time trials while the remaining three spots will be awarded through the provisional process. The race is scheduled for 300 laps (75 miles) and will have a five-minute midway break at or near the conclusion of Lap 150. This is an impound race with two change tires allowed.

The Track:  Autodrome Chaudiere held its inaugural Canadian Tire Series event in 2014. The quarter-mile, high-banked oval opened in 1992 with a dirt racing surface and was paved for the first time in 2005.

Budweiser 300 Notes:

The 300 is No. 100:  Saturday’s Budweiser 300 will mark the 100th event in NASCAR Canadian Tire Series presented by Mobil 1 history. Ontario’s Cayuga Motor Speedway played host to the inaugural race on May 26, 2007, and the series visited 16 other tracks across six provinces through its first eight seasons.

Oval Expertise:  The same three drivers that have started all 99 previous Canadian Tire Series races – Jason Hathaway, D.J. Kennington and Scott Steckly – also make up three of the top four most successful competitors on ovals. Kennington leads the trio with 17 triumphs, the series’ ovals record, while Steckly is just one behind with 16. Don Thomson Jr., now the crew chief for rookie Cayden Lapcevich, ranks third with seven oval wins while Hathaway follows with five.

Ontario Winners at Quebec Ovals:  There have been seven oval races in the province of Quebec in Canadian Tire Series history, and each has been won by an Ontario driver. Hathaway won the inaugural Autodrome Chaudiere race last year and the six events at Autodrome St-Eustache have gone to Steckly (4), Kennington and Dave Whitlock.

L.P. Dumoulin to Reach a Milestone of His Own:  Trois-Rivieres, Quebec, native and defending series champion L.P. Dumoulin will reach a milestone of his own at Autodrome Chaudiere as the Budweiser 300 will be his 50th career start. Dumoulin earned his first Quebec win a year ago in his hometown Grand Prix de Trois-Rivieres, and notched his first oval victory last year as well, at Saskatchewan’s Auto Clearing Motor Speedway.

First Oval Test for J.F. Dumoulin:  The Budweiser 300 will be the first career oval start for J.F. Dumoulin, older brother of the reigning champion. Each of J.F. Dumoulin’s first 20 Canadian Tire Series starts has come between the road courses at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, Circuit ICAR, Circuit de Trois-Rivieres and Toronto Exhibition Place.

Labbe Set to Return:  Alex Labbe will return to action in the Budweiser 300 after an injury just prior to green flag at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park prevented him from participating in the season-opener on May 17. Labbe, from Victoriaville, Quebec, grew up closest to Autodrome Chaudiere of any of the Canadian Tire Series competitors.

Inaugural Events:  Last year’s inaugural Budweiser 300 marked the first new oval event for the series since Ontario’s Delaware Speedway joined the schedule in 2009. Following this week’s second running at Chaudiere, the Canadian Tire Series will return to Ontario for another inaugural event, the Leland Industries 300 presented by Johnsonville on June 20 at Sunset Speedway.

Jason Hathaway Cruises to Third Place Finish in NASCAR Canadian Tire Series Finale

FRASERVILLE, ON- September 22, 2014– NASCAR Canadian Tire Series presented by Mobil 1 fan favourite Jason Hathaway tallied his 5th podium finish of the season on Saturday, September 20th, finishing 3rd in the Pinty’s 250 at Kawartha Speedway to close out the 11-round 2014 schedule.

“I’m proud of this team today”, said Hathaway post-race. “We didn’t have a great handling car early on, and really had to employ some strategy to be back in the conversation when the laps started to count.”

“My guys made some pretty crucial adjustments when we came in for our final tire stop and it woke the car right up”, continued Hathaway. “They’re the whole reason I was able to stand on the podium tonight.”

The Dutton, ON veteran qualified in the 12th position, and cruised deep within the top-10 for the majority of the race’s first half.

“We didn’t really have enough car to push the envelope early, which turned out to be a blessing”, admitted Hathaway. “By the time we had fixed our handling issues, we had more than enough equipment left to start picking some positions up late in the race.  The guys picked us up some spots on pit road which really helped us to bring home this 3rd place.”

Hathaway charged into the top-5 late in the going, and upon reaching the top-3 appeared to be closing on the battle for the lead as the 250-lap event expired.

“It’s definitely a positive way to end our season, and now we can head back to the shop and decide what we can do to make this No. 3 Rockstar Energy Drink Chevrolet faster for next season.”

Jason Hathaway closes out the 2014 campaign with a 5th place finish in series points, with a total of 2 wins, 5 top-5s and 7 top-10s.

T3R/EHR’s 2014 season would not have been possible without marketing support from Pro.Point by Princess Auto, Rockstar Energy Drink, The Harman Group, Williamson’s GM & Dodge, Praxair, Mobil 1, Fast Eddie Racewear, Barn Door Brewing Company and Choko Motorsports.

STOUFFVILLE, ON- September 18, 2014- After a late-race, highlight-reel battle at Barrie Speedway paved the way for Jason Hathaway’s second victory of the 2014 NASCAR Canadian Tire Series presented by Mobil 1 season, the fan favourite is ready to close out his season on a high note setting his sights on a strong podium finish at Kawartha Speedway’s Pinty’s 250 on Saturday, September 20th.

“Barrie was exactly the kind of race we needed”, smiles Hathaway as he reflects. “We always seem to run well there. Now that we have that win to build on, all of our guys are motivated and energized to take down two in a row this weekend.”

Hathaway has posted 4 top-10s in 6 oval starts this season, and hopes to continue that trend at Kawartha.

“Our oval program is so strong, my team always has me in equipment that’s capable of getting to the front”, explains the veteran. “We just need to pick our spots, utilize the right strategy on pit road and have enough car left to be there when it counts.”

Heading into the event, Hathaway makes it clear what his Ed Hakonson Racing team is looking for at Kawartha.

“At this point in the season, all that matters to us is a trip to victory lane. We’re going to Kawartha looking for our third win of the season, and we’re not going to let a little bit of hard work stand in the way of making that happen.”

The Pinty’s 250 is scheduled for Kawartha Speedway on Saturday, September 20th. Details, including gate times and ticket prices, can be found at www.KawarthaSpeedway.com.

T3R/EHR’s 2014 campaign is powered by Pro.Point by Princess Auto, Rockstar Energy Drink, The Harman Group, Williamson’s GM & Dodge, Praxair, Mobil 1, Fast Eddie Racewear, Barn Door Brewing Company and Choko Motorsports.

Stouffville NASCAR team wins Barrie race in crowd-pleasing duel

There’s something about the Barrie Speedway that appeals to the Stouffville-based EHR-Team Three Red racing team.

For the second straight year, Jason Hathaway drove the EHR-Team Three Red Rockstar Energy Drink/Choko Authentic Apparel Chevrolet to victory on the Simcoe County oval during the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series presented by Mobil 1 Wahta Springs 300 race Saturday.

Hathaway drove a dominating race while holding the lead for 182 laps.

The fifth career victory by Hathaway was his second this season on the series that has just one more race to go a.

“This team gave me a phenomenal car tonight”, he said. “I didn’t have to push it until the last restart. We were able to cruise at the front of the field for about 130-laps just saving our rear tires.

“That was our game plan heading into this race, and my guys made sure we were able to implement it perfectly.”

A green-white-checkered finish set Hathaway up for a two-lap drag race with longtime friend J.R. Fitzpatrick that brought the capacity Barrie Speedway crowd to their feet late in the event.

“Anytime you put JR and I beside one another on a race track, you know it’s going to be entertaining”, Hathaway said. “I’m happy it was him I was racing for the win, because we know how to race one another. We leaned on one another, and neither one of us was going to give an inch – but it was just perfect Saturday night short track racing.

“Fitzy and I will go back and forth on text and twitter talking about this one all week.”

The victory also atoned for a pair of frustrating outings during the last two events, at Riverside International Speedway and Canadian Tire Motorsport Park.

“I’m happy I was finally able to bring my guys home the finish that they deserve”, Hathaway said. “We had great cars at Riverside and CTMP, and just didn’t have the luck to bring it all together. Tonight, we made our own luck. It’s exactly what this team needed.”

Hathaway is in fifth place in the series standings with 352 points.

He trails Andreww Ranger by five for fourth place.

L.P. Dumoulin is the overall series leader with 418 points.

The final race of the series is scheduled to take place at Kawartha Speedway near Peterborough with the running of the Pinty’s 250 Sept. 20
