Hathaway's Strong Night Cut Short At St. Eustache

July 28, 2013- St Eustache, Quebec- Returning to the eastern part of Canada, Jason Hathaway and his #3 Snap-on Tools/ Rockstar Energy Drink Dodge ventured to the tight 4/10 mile oval of Autodrome St Eustache, north of Montreal, Saturday night for the National 250 with hopes of keeping the team’s momentum alive!

Hathaway posted a solid effort in practice and secured a mid-field starting spot for the race.

Having recorded some great finishes at this track when he was ran late models he was confident in his car and the team’s chances.

“This was my home track in 2003 when I ran 5 CASCAR Sportsman races, and I feel pretty good about our car and what we can do tonight.” Said Hathaway

Hathaway got right to the job at hand inthe 250 lap main event and started to make his way through traffic, picking cars off one at a time as he charged towards the front. By lap 50, Hathaway was posted in the 4th spot.

Just after the half-way point of the race, lap 133, Hathaway took the lead and dominating the field with some blistering laps, lapping all but 2 of the 19 car field. His lap times were awesome and he was just riding around recording laps in his super quick race machine.

After taking tires on 186, Hathaway felt something give way in the back of the car. The team brought Hathaway down pit road and diagnosed a broken rear end bracket. The crew took the car behind pit wall and they went to work installing a new bracket and getting him back on track.

Hathaway returned to the track to pick up as many points as he could and did a great job doing so. He finished 14th, collecting enough points to keep him in the 4th spot and still in the hunt for this Championship battle.

“We had another car that should have won tonight, that is for sure. The car was great and things were going the right way strategy wise. It’s hard to take, but parts failures are part of the racing game. It’s one of those things that happen and you just have to repair them and get back at it. Our crew did just that and kept us in the point’s battle. We come to win every weekend and the way we have been running it’s only a matter of time!” Said Hathaway after the race.

The National 250 presented by Public Mobile will air on TSN at 11 a.m. EST on Sunday, Aug. 4. The French-language telecast will air on RDS2 at 11 p.m. ET on Saturday, Aug. 24 and at 10 a.m. ET on Sunday, Aug. 25 on RDS.

In other team news; Jason Hathaway and his car were on site on Friday before heading to Montreal in Barrie, Ontario along with the Team from Rockstar to support a new store opening at McEwen Fuels on Dunlop Street. It was a great event and Hathaway got to meet lots of fans signing autographs and support a new business venture that is excited to be showcasing Rockstar Energy Drinks!

Hathaway Podiums At Western Showdown At Saskatoon

July 18, 2013-Saskatoon, Saskatchewan– Coming off a strong second place finish at Motoplex on the weekend, Hathaway in his #3 Snap-on Tools/Rockstar Energy Drink Dodge had a score to settle from last season’s running of the Prairie Thunder 250 at Auto Clearing Motor Speedway on Wednesday night.  After almost winning the race last year, Hathaway and his team rallied back from a tough starting spot to post yet another podium finish for the Team.

Practice well Saturday afternoon under the blazing Prairie sun; Hathaway was 5th  on the speed charts.  A set up change temporarily hampered Hathaway’s quantifying effort however, but the Team was confident that they would be able to make it up in the 250 lap Prairie Thunder 250 later that night.

“We are starting deep in the field, but I know we have a car that can go to the front.” said Hathaway during the very busy trackside autograph session.

Starting 15th, Hathaway set his sights on the front and started working his way through some tough competition.  His car worked well on the inside and the outside lanes of the race track and was passing cars high, low and at one point through the middle! When the caution flew for the first time on lap 75, Hathaway with some awesome driving had worked his way up the 5th spot in the running order.

On that caution Crew Chief Craig Masters called his driver down pit for a tank of fuel and chassis adjustment and sent him back out onto the track in the 5th spot.   With only 11 cars on the lead lap the #3 Snap-on Tools/Rockstar Energy Drink Dodge got right back to it and on lap 92 took command of the race leading the hard charging field.  Hathaway lead 47 laps of the event.  The Team put fresh tires on the car on lap 135 and Hathaway worked his way up to the 5th spot once again.  By lap 186, Hathaway had earned 3rd place and was showing no signs of letting up. On lap 208, Hathaway was spun out by a competitor and he came down pit road for a splash of fuel and Car Chief Graham Annis checked the car over. Luckily he didn’t suffer any damage, but had to start at the back of the pack in 11th with only 42 laps to go.

A charged up Hathaway moved his way back up to the front with the leaders, passing almost every car on the track and with 10 laps to go was in 5th spot.  After the final caution of the night flew Hathaway once again put his car wherever he wanted on the track and when the checkers flew, he crossed the line in 3rd.

“This was a disappointing way to get a 3rd place finish. We had a car to win here tonight, but when we got spun we had a lot of ground to cover! We passed a lot of cars tonight and we were charging to the front.  Snap-on was here tonight and we were hoping to put on a show; and I think we did that! The Rockstar girls were also here tonight and it made for a great event!” Said Hathaway after climbing out of his car after the race.

The TSN premier telecast of the Velocity Prairie Thunder 250 presented by Bayer CropScience will be on Sunday, July 28 at 11 a.m. EST. The French telecast on RDS2 will debut at 11 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 16.

Hathaway and his Team will have a weekend off and will be back in action on July 27 at Autodrome St. Eustache (Que.) for the National 250.

Hathaway Shines In The Valley Of The Sun

Vernon, British Columbia- July 14, 2013 – After a late race mechanical problem last weekend posted the Team a disappointing finish at ICAR, Jason Hathaway and his team redeemed their selves on Saturday night at Motoplex Speedway in Vernon, British Columbia at the A&W 300 with a podium finish and some great points traction in the championship points battle.

Practice went well for the Team as Hathaway and Car Chief Graham Annis tuned on their race machine and worked on getting the car comfortable for the 300 lap A&W 300. Qualifying was a little tough for Hathaway logging a 10th place qualifying effort, getting a little loose during his qualifying lap.

Starting in the 10th spot, Hathaway got to it right away with the drop off the green flag and by lap 50 had slid his #3 Snap-on Tools/Rockstar Energy Drink Dodge  into 4th place it the running order.   Hathaway made an awesome move into 3rd on lap 75 and settled in for a long green flag run.

The first chance to get tires and fuel came on lap 143 when the caution flag finally flew.  Crew Chief Craig Masters played strategy and brought Hathaway down pit road to the attention of his over the wall crew for right side tires, left side tries and a full tank of race fuel. The crew worked like clockwork on their pit stop.  On a track known for long green flag runs the team strategy of fresh tires and track position kicked in. Hathaway restarted 8th after the pit stop and with those 4 fresh tires started picking off cars for position.

On lap 163, Hathaway took the lead of the fast moving pack and lead for the next 77 laps, earning bonus points and showing the Snap-on and Rockstar colours.  After a great long run at the top of the field Hathaway relinquished the lead and settled into 3rd to save his equipment for a late race 20 lap run.  Saving his tires paid off and worked the 2nd place car, taking the second spot over on lap 286. He held that spot to the checkered flag and posted the Team’s 2nd podium of the 2013 season.

“We had a great car all day and I was very confident going into this long race of 300 laps. My crew chief Grunt Masters made great calls all night and put us in contention for the win. This runner up thing is getting old though; I’m hungry for a win!  Said Hathaway during front stretch ceremonies after the race.

Hathaway Snaps Up 2nd Top 5 Finish Of The Season

June 23, 2013- Bowmanville, Ontario– After a non-typical finish for Hathaway, after suffering a flat tire early in the race at Delaware Speedway last weekend, Hathaway and his Team focused their efforts and were rewarded with a great finish and a solid point’s night.

The Clarington 200, the last major event on the schedule for the historic Canadian Tire Motorsports Park oval track, was dampened with grey skies the majority of the day. NASCAR officials and teams waited out the rain and ran a tightened schedule including a quick 45 minutes of practice in which Hathaway was 6th on the speed charts. Hathaway qualifying effort was a little off and positioned him 13th on the starting grid.

Crew Chief Craig Masters focused his team and driver on the 200 laps ahead to work their way towards the front. Hathaway in his #3 Snap-on Tools/Rockstar Energy Drink Dodge went on the hunt looking for positions with the drop of the green flag, making some great passes and by the first caution flag on lap 65 was up to the 7th spot in the running order. The over the wall fuel crew topped of Hathaway’s race machine with race fuel during the caution and sent the car back onto the track to continue his charge towards the front of the field.

By lap 110, Hathaway had earned 4th. Caution flew on lap 116 and he came to the attention of his crew for right side tires and a chassis adjustments. The new tires and chassis adjustment gave renewed life to the car and Hathaway picked up 2 spots on the restart pulling into 3rd.

Another awesome restart by Hathaway earned him 2nd in the running order a few laps later. In the late stages of the race Hathaway’s windshield become covered in another competitor’s gear oil and long green flag runs prevented him from coming to the attention of his crew to get it cleaned off. Hathaway stayed on his game and brought home a solid 4th place finish, his second top 5 finish of the season.

“We had a good car again today and the guys did an awesome job with Craig in the pits tonight. We had a top 3 car again tonight, but I couldn’t see too well with my windshield covered in oil and I didn’t want to wreck the car. We will take this finish tonight and move on to the next race in a few weeks ready to battle again.” said Hathaway climbing out of his car in technical inspection.

The Team will have a few weeks off to prepare for the Jiffy Lube 100 presented by Snap-on Tools at the ICAR circuit at Mirabel Airport north of Montreal, July 8th.

In other news; The Team was also honored with a well written driver profile of Hathaway titled “Racing is a balancing act for speedy dad” in the Saturday edition of the Toronto Star Wheels Section this weekend.

Flat Tire Flattens Hathaway's Night At Delaware

June 15, 2013- London, Ontario– After a very successful 3rd place finish at the season opener 3 weeks ago at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park, Hathaway and his team were looking forward to getting started on the oval tracks on the schedule last night at Delaware Speedway. A flat tire however early in the 200 lap EMCO 200 took that away from the hard charging team.

Returning to his roots at Delaware Speedway, where Hathaway got his racing start and won countless races, Jason Hathaway and his #3 Snap-on Tools/Rockstar Energy Drink Dodge were poised to have a great night at the familiar track.   The car practiced very well, 3rd on the speed charts and Hathaway laid down a 6th pace qualifying effort.

“It’s great to come to the track every weekend and know that we have a car that is very competitive everywhere we go. The guys in the shop worked really hard during the off season and during the week and we are excited to show what we can do this weekend.” said Hathaway during the autograph session flanked by the popular ROCKSTAR models trackside.

Starting on the outside of row 3, Hathaway and team spotter Jeff Gotalear worked to get a run going early and to get down to the bottom groove of the race track off the start. This set him up to content for 5th and by lap 17; he had taken over the spot.   Hathaway pulled into the 4th spot when he reported in wicked vibration to his Crew Chief Craig Masters. By the time Hathaway brought his race machine to the attention of his over the wall crew, his left front tire was flat. Under green flag conditions, the team changed the tire and repaired the damage to the car. With green flag laps still being recorded on the track, unfortunately he went down 3 laps to the leaders.

Hathaway battled back as much as he could but was running on his own lap for the remainder of the race, recordings some super-fast laps and working his way back up to the 11th finishing positions.

“This was not the night that we worked for tonight. We had a great car and the flat tire really wrecked our night. We battled back, but we could only get so far up in the field to get our laps back. Our over the wall guys worked hard never gave up. With our equipment and their determination we will battle back next week at MOSPORT.

The EMCO 200 will air on TSN on June 23, 2013 at 1 pm EST and on RDS2 on Monday July 8 at 9pm.

Despite the frustrating finish, Hathaway still has a strong hold on 3rd place in the Championship points standings going into the Clarington 200 at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park on the oval on June 22, 2013, near Bowmanville, Ontario.

HGC Set To Deliver Hathaway To The Track For 2013 Season

May 2, 2013-  Stouffville, Ontario– Jason Hathaway and the T3R/ EHR race team will have some new equipment taking them to the track this year for the 2013 NASCAR Canadian Tire Series schedule.

The team’s profile is an essential part of the partnerships that the Team forms with each of its sponsors and a key part in that profile is the Team’s race hauler. This piece of equipment not only makes sure that they get to the track, but the Team transporter also serves as a moving billboard travelling across the country for its partners.

Starting in 2013, T3R/ EHR is excited to have the support of HGC “The Harman Group” as the Team’s official transportation provider.  The Caledon, Ontario based carrier is looking forward to traveling with the team as they compete in 12 events from coast to coast using one of their trucks and logistics expertise.

Employing over 250 drivers, HGC is in the final phase of a recruitment and driver rewards program that will provide employees with an opportunity to attend race events as guests of Team 3 Red/ EHR.

“We are very excited to join the team” said company President Jas Shocker. “Being involved with the caliber of a team like this will provide our sales force and recruiting team the chance to entertain clients and drivers at the track. I’m really looking forward to launching our driver rewards program once the details are final, those details will be released in the next couple of weeks”.

The Team is ready to kick their 2013 season off with the first race May 17- 19th, the Vortex Brake Pads 200, at the 3.597 kilometer road course of Canadian Tire Motorsports Park. Hathaway had a great run in last season’s event posting a 6th place finish after suffering a major crash and injury at the same event in 2011.

T3R/ EHR is proud to be partnered with Snap-on Tools, Rockstar Energy Drinks, Napoleon Grills, Fast Eddie Racewear, Choko Motorsports, Praxair, Thornberry Cider and King Brewery.

About HGC: Starting with one truck in 1987, the fleet has grown to over 170 trucks and 250 temperature controlled trailers. HGC specializes in door to door Mexico service and California team service with offices in Ontario, British Columbia and Nova Scotia.
